Poor Mike Trout. He’s the best player in the league and his team has lost eleven straight with no signs of improving any time soon. The Angels are a disaster and it’s a big question of whether or not the Angels would ever trade him. He doesn’t seem like the type of player who would demand a trade, but maybe he should think about it. The Angels are a bad team with seemingly no help coming in the farm system. They could spend a ton of money on free agents this offseason, but it’s doubtful that would even work. It usually doesn’t (as the Angels can attest to, many times) and it would be a shame to see a player like Trout spend the prime of his career on a team with no chance of ever competing for the playoffs like a modern day Ernie Banks. The Angels play the red hot Mariners again tonight.

The AL East currently controls the Wild Card with the Orioles and Blue Jays tied for first while the Red Sox are right behind them in the second Wild Card. The Mariners are on their heels, but Boston still holds a two game lead on them. That situation is pretty muddled now, but could get cleared by the weekend. The Red Sox and Orioles are in the midst of the series as are the Blue Jays and Yankees. New York has been hot since trading everyone, but they are still 5.5 games back in the East and 4.5 back in the Wild Card. This should be a good week of baseball and hopefully we can start to figure things out just a little bit more.

MLB Betting Tips:

We’ll start with the Red Sox and Orioles. Baltimore is a team that we just don’t believe in because of their starting pitching and tonight is a great example of that with Yovani Gallardo on the mound. He holds a 5.17 ERA that matches his 4.95 FIP so he hasn’t been unlucky, he’s just not good. He goes against the top scoring offense in all of baseball today and I don’t see that ending well for him. He’ll be against Eduardo Rodriguez today who has really turned it around in the second half with a 3.65 FIP and is holding hitters to a .215 average this month. A tough match-up, but I like Rodriguez a hell of a lot more than Gallardo today. Red Sox -108

Last season the Blue Jays had a big August series where they beat the Yankees in New York and never looked back. This season? I could definitely see the same type of thing happening. Tonight will be a good start with Marco Estrada on the mound against Michael Pineda. Pineda is having a nice season, but I think he’s starting to slip a bit in the second half as the Yankees are likely to do as well. Moreover, we just love the Jays in the second half and think this series could be the start of something. Toronto +107

Things might not get much better for the Angels tonight. Chacin is on the mound for them and he’s coming off a game where he was destroyed by the Indians. Chacin is a pitcher I always like to pick on and tonight I’ll be doing that again as the streak goes to 12 and Mariners -110 win. I do think that the Angels will make a game of it though with Ariel Miranda on the mound for Seattle. He’s only making his second start of the season and his hard hit numbers don’t look great. This could be a bullpen game and if that’s the case I love the over 9 runs.
