Today is a weird day in baseball as there are only nine games on the schedule and most of those games are day games. This kind of thing happens on Thursdays as it’s a travel day before the big weekend series. The smaller schedule benefits us because we are able to focus on these games and figure out the best values.

The big match-up on the board is the Yankees and Mariners series that kicks off tonight. The Mariners are coming off a series win against the Astros that has them right back in the thick of the Wild Card race. They added David Phelps from the Marlins today and appear to be going for it. Meanwhile, the Yankees are in a real bad way right now and have lost or tied seven straight series. That’s their worse run since 1991. Despite that, they are still in the driver’s seat for the Wild Card as they have a 1.5 game lead on Seattle. This could be a good one.

MLB Betting Tips:

The series with Baltimore and Texas finishes up tonight and I’m a little sad. This series has been the source of big runs for the last two days and have been relatively easy over bets. Tonight should be no different with Wade Miley on the mound for Baltimore. He’s one of my favorite pitchers to pick on and I’m all over him tonight. He goes against Cole Hamels who is still good, but not quite the guy he used to be. I think Baltimore will get a few off of him and this game will be another easy over. Over 10.5 runs.

The best pitching match-up of the night is going down in Kansas City as Danny Duffy takes on Michael Fulmer. Both of these guys have looked good this year and they are throwing in a pitcher’s park. It will be hot and humid, but I don’t think either of these offenses are good enough to take advantage of it. I really like the under 9 runs here.

Another pitching match-up I like is Madison Bumgarner against Jhoulys Chacin in San Francisco. This is another great pitching match-up taking place in a pitcher’s park with two offenses that aren’t scaring anyone. I am going to go with the under 7.5 runs here and feel pretty good about it.

Finally, we have the Seattle and Yankees match-up. The Mariners are really riding high right now and the Yankees are really struggling. Felix Hernandez goes for Seattle and he’ll have the King’s Court behind him. He’s looked good in his last two starts and he always pitches better at home. Severino has the better numbers, but I don’t love the way he’s looked in his last three starts. It’s always good to grab a home underdog whenever you can and this is an ideal scenario. Good offense, hot team vs. cold team and solid pitching. Give me the Mariners +120 and a great Wild Card race down the stretch.
