I hope everyone followed our MLB picks on Tuesday as we went 4-0 for a big day. For whatever reason I was feeling more confident than usual in those picks and decided to do a small four team parlay using those picks. That worked out pretty well.

We’re back with more baseball picks today and while I am not as crazy about today’s slate as I was on Tuesday, there are still some good values out there. We’re also going to have a tip for tonight’s CFL game between the Calgary Stampeders and the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

MLB Betting Tips:

I might be alone in this, but I think Jerad Eickhoff is the best of the young Phillies starters. He’s been very reliable this season and has posted a 2.45 ERA in home starts, where he pitches tonight. The Phillies draw a nice match-up with Tom Koehler on the mound for the Marlins who is an average to below average starter at best. The only problem is that the Phillies are a bottom four offense in all of baseball against right handed pitching. This seems like a low scoring game to me and I am taking under 8.5 runs.

James Shields is now a month removed from his run of starts where he allowed 10, 7, 6 and 8 earned runs. He’s been better since then, but I still don’t believe that he’s a good pitcher and Vegas doesn’t seem to either with the total on this game set at 10.5 runs. Of course, Mike Pelfrey being on the opposite mound doesn’t help matters either with his 4.95 ERA. This should be one of the highest scoring games of the night and in that case, I have to pick the better offense. In that case, the answer is clearly the Tigers who have the 9th best wOBA against right handed pitchers compared the White Sox who rank 25th. This could be a fun one, but the Tigers +118 are winning it.

The final game on the slate tonight features two potential trade targets as Sonny Gray of Oakland takes on Matt Moore of the Rays. Moore has done a lot to showcase himself as of late as he holds a 2.70 ERA over his past three starts. Gray, on the other hand, has struggled all season and currently holds a 5.12 ERA. Neither one of these offense really inspires me, but I just feel like Gray is broken and he won’t be coming back. That means the Rays +120 can grab the win here.

CFL Betting Tips:

Winnipeg is one of my favorite teams to target against and tonight is no different. Even though they are playing at home it hasn’t had much effect on them this season as they’ve lost to Edmonton and Montreal at home earlier in the season. It won’t get any easier tonight as they face a Stampeders team that beat them in week two 36-22. This just seems like another game that Winnipeg will lose and a repeat of week 2 seems like. Stampeders -5.5 is the right play here.
