We had the FA Cup last week, no shocks, really, and nothing worse writing home about. Then came the midweek Premiership games and things started to get interesting. Arsenal are starting to return to the Arsenal we know and love, throwing chances away and dropping points left, right and centre. Leicester City show no signs of stopping, brushing aside Liverpool 2-0, and Manchester City’s price to lift the Premiership trophy has shortened considerably. And then we had the wonderful transfer deadline day. Did anything of note happen? Newcastle splashed a lot of money, got hardly anything for it and lost 3-0 to Everton. Oh, and Pep Guardiola was announced as the new manager of Manchester City for next season. So nothing much happened, really.

Now, as last week was an FA Cup week, we had more matches than usual for Lawro to predict. In our first FA Cup special, that was a disaster, as we lost a hell of a lot thanks to Lawro’s awful strategy just not working out for him. But how did he get on last week? You know what, out of 16 matches, Lawro actually managed to predict 11 correct results. I almost fell out of my chair when I saw that. He even managed to get three correct scores! But what does that mean in terms of a profit or loss? Well, he still did cost us 18 units with losing correct score bets and match predictions. Well, amazingly Lawro, in his FA Cup special, managed to net us an astonishing +29.82 units. That takes our loss for the season to -41 units So while it’s still looking pretty awful, Lawro has dug himself out of a hole. Now we just need him to start hitting some correct scores, and to stop tipping bloody Liverpool every week! But knowing Mark Lawrenson, that’s not going to happen, is it?

And you know by know that come paragraph three of Lawo’s predictions, I have to remind you of our good friends at Bet365, as they are still doing their Bore Draw promotion again this week. Remember, if you place a bet of up to on any of the correct score, half-time/full-time or scorecast markets, and the game finishes 0-0, Bet365 will refund your money. So once you’ve looked at Lawro’s tips, head on over to our good friends at Bet365 and get your money down.

So we have to absolutely huge games this weekend, one to start us off in the shape of Manchester City versus Leicester in what might just swing the title one way or the other. And then we have the old Chelsea and Manchester United rivalry, although not as much as it stake as there usually is, with both sides off the pace. Still, no real shocks in Lawro’s predictions for either game, is there? Also, no shock he’s gone for a Liverpool win. In fact, the real shock is the 2-2 prediction between Swansea and Crystal Palace. I can’t remember the last time he went for a draw bigger than 1-1? They must have put something in the water at the BBC Sport offices.
