Fun day of football today. What an intense battle that was for Rangers as they pulled it back to win 2-1 over Hibs.
We went 1-1 in the SPL Tips for a slight loss. We had both teams NOT to score in Aberdeen versus St Johnstone and that came in as the poor form Aberdeen team continued that with a 1-0 loss at home to St. Johnstone. That one was a bit nervewracking as St Johnstone scored after just SIX minutes. Luckily Aberdeen, despite dominating possession, couldn’t get the shots off.
We lost with Hearts to beat Kilmarnock. I guess that win over Ross County brought back the offensive confidence for Killie as they went up 3-0 there after just 50 minutes. Hearts eventually pulled it back to 3-2 thanks to a red card by Branescu.
It was a winning day in Ligue 1 on the 4th thanks to unit sizing. We went 1-1 losing the 1u play on BTTS in Lille vs Rennes, but winning the 3u play on Monaco to beat Angers. Angers had a whopping 16 shots in that one but only 4 in target.
Let’s look ahead to this weekends action now. A bit tight on domestic league action but here’s what we’ve got with a look at one Serie A game::
Fiorentina vs Atalanta Betting Tips:
Fiorentina come into this one after getting thumped by Juventus 3-0, just as I predicted. That ended a 4 game unbeaten streak for Fiorentina.
Fiorentina are currently in 14th place. While they are not safe from relegation mathematically, it’d require a big effort from any of the bottom three to change that.
Atalanta meanwhile are 4th. Joint 4th to be exact. Roma are right there with them although have went off form so that’s given Atalanta a chance to lock up that final UEFA Champions League spot. Right now it looks like it’s just going to be between them so it’s very close.
Atalanta have been a bit weird lately. That 2-1 loss to SPAL then they bounced back with a 7-0 win over Torino, but drew 2-2 with 3rd bottom Genoa.
I like Atalanta to put in a good shift here. They were so motivated against Torino and I expect similar here. They’ve won 6 out of 11 games away which is fairly impressive.
I do think Fiorentina have a decent chance of getting on the scoresheet but Atalanta have an absolutely electric attack.
To their credit, Fiorentina have a very solid xGA at home. 8th best in the league. They also have a decent record againts Atalanta with a win in the cup and a draw this season.
This was one where I wanted to back Atalanta,but the more I look at it the more I think there’ll be goals.

Just the one tip for the Saturday Serie A games. I was tempted by Torino vs Sampdoria Under 2.5 due to the xG stats for both but 1.72 odds just isn’t worth it.
