A big win for the Denver Broncos last night as they get closer to securing another AFC West division crown. While everyone has been getting excited about the Chiefs chances in the playoffs, the Broncos managed to get things done. Brock Osweiler looks to have taken over the role of starting quarterback and Peyton Manning’s career looks like it could be over. The Broncos could be dangerous in the playoffs for the same reason many people think the Chiefs will be: defense. They are a tough team to beat when their defense is on, it’s just a matter of how much they’ll be able to score. Quite the difference from the Super Bowl team of two years ago.

Tonight our attention shifts to college football. The big playoff match-ups aren’t until New Year’s Eve, but there are some really fun games today. Baylor vs. North Carolina in the Russell Athletic Bowl could be the highest scoring bowl game of the year and Texas Tech vs. LSU in the Advocare V100 Texas Bowl is a classic match-up of high powered offense and shutdown defense. These games should be great.

Plus, there is plenty of NBA on the slate as well tonight with the Atlanta Hawks and Houston Rockets as the big highlight.

NBA Betting Tips:

The Atlanta Hawks are fresh off of a six game winning streak that reminded everyone why this team was so dangerous last year. The first two months of the season haven’t given us a real clear picture of the Eastern Conference outside of Miami, but Atlanta has been playing the type of basketball that puts them in the conversation for a top seed in the East. They face the Rockets tonight who have been trying to put together a win steak like that all season, only they try to do it without getting back on defense or giving full effort. That hasn’t worked out great for them, but they have managed to crawl back to .500 on the season and back into the playoff discussion. This team still has a lot of work to do though on a night-in, night-out basis if they want to compete this season. I think the Hawks just play harder and show up ready to play more often than the Rockets and I have to take Atlanta +2.5 points tonight.

College Football Betting Tips:

Do you like touchdowns? Then get ready for touchdowns because North Carolina/Baylor is going over 69 points tonight. These teams combined to score nearly 89 points per game during the regular season while both teams allowed at or near 400 yards per game. This is going to be a high scoring affair that reminds people more of a video game than actual football. Yes please!

I have a hard time seeing LSU winning a game in which the combined total score is near 74 points, but that’s exactly what they are favored to do today as they are giving up a touchdown to Texas Tech. This is despite LSU losing three out of it’s last four games and failing to score 20 points in any of those games. Their defense is good, but it’s not a great match for Texas Tech’s high flying offense. Give me the points here with Texas Tech +7. This total seems about 7 points to high to me as well so we will also be taking under 74 points in this one.
