For July 3rd, 2019 I’ll be covering both the Women’s World Cup action and the Copa America action taking place on this day.
In the Women’s World Cup we have the semi final between Netherlands and Sweden.
In the Copa America we have the semi final between Chile and Peru.
The one I am particularly looking forward to is the Netherlands vs Sweden game. On the surface, Chile vs Peru is probably not going to be the best game as I expect Peru to park the bus but in South American football, anything can happen.
Let’s hop right into the betting tips and analysis for both those games:
Netherlands vs Sweden Betting Tips:
Both teams are quite honestly a surprise to be here in my opinion.
The Netherlands won their group with three wins, beating Canada, Cameroon and New Zealand. Sweden came 2nd in their group, beating Chile and Thailand but losing 2-0 to the USA.
In the knockout stages the Netherlands rode their luck to get a 2-1 win over Japan. I felt they didn’t deserve to win that one but I have no qualms about their performance over Italy. I was very disappointed by Italy in that one to be honest as the Dutch just controlled the game. Italy just seemed to resort to a defensive mentality when they should have went for it as I’ve said before – the Holland defence is very vulnerable.
No surprise – to me anyway – when Sweden beat Canada but I was a bit surprise Sweden beat Germany. Not that I rated Germany highly or anything – I’ve talked about issues with them throughout the tournament – but I really thought they had it in them in that one. They just couldn’t control that game at all.
It leads to a very interesting game. I felt Swedens win was largely due to Germany making tactical mistakes. Germany didn’t put in every width so their attacks saw everyone clustered about. Defensively Germany were poor and it reminded me of their opening game where they are just exposed numerous times to 1 vs 1 situations.
Holland meanwhile I felt won primarily due to their tactics, and their ability to use the full backs was nice to see.
It’s going to be a very interesting game from a tactics perspective. I think Sweden won more due to Germanys mistakes than anything else, however I think they will go for it in this one and can pressure the Holland defence.

Chile vs Peru Betting Tips:
Chile had 2 wins and a loss to Uruguay in their group as they qualified. Peru were 3rd placed in their group with a draw against Venezuela, a win against Bolivia then a loss to Brazil.
Chile beat Colombia on penalties in a very poor game. The ball spent a lot of time in the middle of the pitch. Both teams seemed wary and cautious.
Peru got just a tad lucky to beat Uruguay on penalties.
Everyone will be expecting Chile to take this one and it won’t surprise me, but with how cautious they were I think there’s a small value play to be had on the draw. It won’t surprise me if Chile win convincingly however.
