Thursday Night Football brings us a huge AFC West match-up between the Chiefs and the Chargers. These two teams are neck-and-neck for the top of the division and this game could go a long way to decide who gets that first round bye in the playoffs. This is just about as big of a match-up that you can expect to get in December and it should be a good one.

The story of this NFL season has been Patrick Mahomes and his amazing play. He’s challenging Aaron Rodgers for the best pass thrower in the NFL and is setting all kinds of records. This might be his toughest defensive match-up of the season tonight. He’ll also be short handed with a few lineman and running back Spencer Ware out for this one.

The Chargers defense has been outstanding this season, but there are a couple of areas that it has been lacking that could really hurt them tonight: pass rush and defending the other teams top receivers. That is bad, bad news against Mahomes.

Kansas City Chiefs vs. Los Angeles Chargers Betting Tips:

As good as the Chargers defense has been this season, I just don’t see them stopping Mahomes here. He has just been outstanding and the Chargers rank 31st in DVOA against No. 1 receivers according to Football Outsiders. That is great news for Mahomes and Tyreek Hill. If the Chargers aren’t able to sustain any sort of pass rush against this team, I don’t think they have a chance. This team is at home and has the chance to secure their playoff destiny. I don’t think they’ll blow it.

That said, it’s going to take at least 35 points to win this game. The Chiefs defense has not been good and Phillip Rivers has shown he still has a few tricks up his sleeve at 37-years old. Melvin Gordon is out, but rookie Justin Jackson steps in and he has looked great in minimum time. With the Chiefs ranking dead last against the run, I think he’ll have a good one. Expect a shootout.

NBA Betting Tips:

The game I am really looking forward to tonight is the Los Angeles Lakers taking on the Houston Rockets. The Lakers have really started to establish themselves as a real team in the Western Conference and are looking like at least a top-4 seeded team. The Rockets have been an up-and-down team this year that hasn’t made a ton of sense. They had a nice win their last time out, but I still feel like they are giving up too many points to a good team here.

NHL Betting Tips:

The Oilers are playing their best hockey of the season and tonight they play the Winnipeg Jets on the road, their hardest challenge since Hitchckock took over. The Jets are a top-5 offensive team and a solid defense as well. That said, I think the Oilers are that level now that they’ve replaced their coach. This line is really hugely in favor of the Jets and I think the Oilers are being underrated here. A good value.
