A 1-1 record in NXT last night.

We got the win with Timothy Thatcher choking out Matt Riddle in a play that I am kicking myself for not going higher units on. Our other bet was a deep underdog play and didn’t come in, but that match also featured the stupidest finish I have seen on TV in some time.

The drama with baseball took a totally unsurprising turn as the players rejected the owners proposal. What did surprise me is that the players plan to counter with an offer that actually features more games than the owners are proposing. I’m always down for more baseball and I think this is a smart move from a PR perspective as well. It changes the narrative a bit and that’s good to do when we live in the world where most people side with owners in these types of labor disputes. I’m still bearish on the season because they need a deal in place by early June and that is just a few days a way.

I resisted making a play on NASCAR yesterday because of the rain and it ended up being delayed. The race will now take place tonight and it should go off. Since there isn’t a lot of sports going on tonight, let’s deep dive into this race and make some plays.

NASCAR ALSCO 500 Betting Tips:

My tips for the winners of this race are:

Martin Truex Jr. #19 +450: He is the favorite here and is heating up with back-to-back top-10 finishes. The odds are still solid on him as a favorite.

Chase Elliott #9 +500: Elliott raced in the Truck Series on Tuesday and grabbed the win so he’s coming in hot. He also got a second place finish at the Coca-Cola 600 and probably would’ve been at least top-five if not higher at the Toyota 500 if not for Kyle Busch crashing him. Probably the best bet on the board here, to be honest.

Kevin Harvick #4 +900: This is more off the past three races than anything else as he has a win, a third, and a fifth place finish. Overall he’s placed in the top 10 in 12 consecutive races, a streak that started at the October playoff race.

With winners, I always go smaller units because the payoffs are so big but the odds are tough as there can only be one winner. I do have some prop style bets where I will go full units on.

Alex Bowman top-5 (-120): Bowman is getting a lot of buzz here as he has been fast, but unlucky. He finished 19th at the Coca-Cola 600, but led over 160 laps and won two stages. The last 50 laps ended up being disastrous for the team and I think they learned their lesson and will finish stronger here.

H2H – Kurt Busch (-130) over Erik Jones: Busch feels really underrated here. He had a top-10 finish Sunday despite some pit issues. He’s a frustrating, but talented driver and if he’s able to finish this one I believe he’ll be ahead of Jones.
