Less than two weeks now remain in the MLB season and we’re left asking: where is the drama? The only division race with a modicum of drama is the NL Central where the Cubs lead the Brewers by just 3.5 games. With just 13 games left though that is a pretty big huge lead. The Brewers only hope may be to keep pace with them and then strike when the two teams meet in a four game series this weekend. Even then, it might not be enough as the Cubs finish with a series against the Reds while the Brewers play the much tougher Cardinals.

The NL Wild Card race has some interest as the Brewers are only two games behind the Rockies in that race. The problem for the Brewers there is that the Rockies have an easy two weeks ahead of them. The Giants, Padres and Marlins are all out of it and have been for a long time. They finish up against the Dodgers who will have nothing to play for in that series. It’s going to take a minor miracle to get the Brewers in the playoffs. It’s not impossible, just improbable. Go Crew.

Minnesota seems to be running away with the AL Wild Card although the Angels are just 1.5 games back. Minnesota has seven remaining games who might be the worst team in the league after trading Justin Verlander, Justin Upton and JD Martinez. The Angels schedule isn’t quite as easy and the Mariners could make a run at them as well, but that would require a huge run from them. Let’s hope we get something like that from the Angels or Mariners so we have something to watch for in these last two weeks.

The aforementioned Brewers send one of their best pitchers in Chase Anderson to the mound against the Pirates tonight. The Pirates are without Francisco Cervelli and are trying out a lot of new players. They don’t have much motivation to win this one and the Brewers have all the motivation in the world. Milwaukee -118 is a great value here.

Rookie pitcher versus rookie pitcher in a homer happy ballpark. Yes, please. While I like the future potential of Jack Flaherty, he’s only 21 and will be facing Joey Votto and a tough offense. The Reds pitchers are the Reds pitchers, which is to say the worst in baseball. Give me the over 9.5 runs in the Reds and Cardinals game.

Not quite sure why Kevin Gausman is being favored over the Red Sox and Drew Pomeranz tonight. Gausman’s ERA is a full 1.6 higher than Pomeranz and the Red Sox offense is much better. I just don’t see a reason for this, give me the Red Sox +110.

Mike Leake has been great for the Mariners thus far. Tonight he heads to the mound against the Rangers with lefty Martin Perez on the mound for Texas. Seattle popped two homers off him last week and I could see more of that here. Seattle -145 is the play here.
