Well the golf season is upon us with the PGA tour starting back this week. It’s the Tournament of Champions and next week we return with the European Tour as well.

It’s funny – initially I wasn’t planning on doing betting tips for this tournament. I looked at the golfers and at the odds and at the stats and I was like “Nah – nothing I like here”. However then I happened to glance at my history for this event and realized we have quite a positive betting record.

Last year we got two betting tips correct – Patrick Reed to finish in the Top 4 at 9/4 odds, and the big one – Brandt Snedeker to finish in the Top 4 at 11/1. That was a huge way to start the year with a big win.

The year prior we also correctly tipped Matsuyama to be the Top Asian golfer that year as well.

Despite all that I’m not feeling the confidence this week. I’ve looked at the stats and nothing is really sticking out to me.

I’ve got just three bets. The first is Snedeker to win & E/W. I’m betting based on how much the dude loves this course more than anything else and I’m betting just a quarter unit. I think there are better golfers than him in this tournament and I don’t have full faith.

I’m also taking Jordan Spieth finishing in the Top 4 at 1/1. He always starts the New Year off well.

Finally I’ve got one last bet which is a quarter unit small bet on the one and only Jason Day. I’m backing Day to win at 7/1. To be honest that’s more a gut pick than anything else – when I looked at the participants he just randomly stuck out to me.

NHL Betting Picks for January 4th, 2017:

Some quick thoughts on every NHL game that’s taking place today:

Jets vs Panthers: I’ve got to go with Winnipeg Jets to win today. They’ve put in some solid performances when Back to Back and I’m hoping the momentum carries them tonight. Panthers are a tough team but this feels like a 50/50 sorta game so I’ll take the underdogs.

Stars vs Canadiens: Such a tricky one as the Dallas Stars are extremely inconsistent this season. Habs have slight value with Benn out so I’ll place a small bet on Canadiens to win.

Rangers vs Flyers: The Flyers are on a downward spiral while the Rangers will want to come out flying after last nights disaster against Buffalo. I’m going to take Rangers to win.

Coyotes vs Canucks: I think we’ve got to take the Canucks here who are rolling. Coyotes are on a bad run and the Canucks have a great recent history against the Coyotes. As long as they take it seriously they should thump them.

Flames vs Avalanche: Avalanche have been more competitive as of late and coming off the 9 goal thriller last time I see this being Over 5.5 Goals.

Wing vs Ducks: I hate backing the inconsistent Ducks. I’ll take Over 5.5 in this one but it’s just a small bet with not much confidence.
