We’re 4 tournaments deep into the 2015 LPGA Season, and it’s time to start offering up LPGA Betting Tips. The data has been gathered and scraped and we are ready to rock and roll.

This weeks LPGA tournament is the Honda LPGA Thailand. It’s actually been marred in controversy this week, as a lot of players were flying on Cathay Pacific and they lost their golf bags! Some were finally found – but if you know golfers, you know they don’t need stress like that 2 days before a tournament.

This tournament has been going on since 2006. Last years winner was Anna Nordqvist, and the year prior it was the top South Korean golfer, Inbee Park. Prior to that, Yani Tseng had won it twice in a row.

The Honda LPGA Thailand Classic takes place at the Siam Country Club, Pattaya Old Course and has a prize fund of about $1.5 million dollars.

Honda LPGA Thailand 2015 Betting Odds:

  1. Inbee Park: 5/1
  2. Stacy Lewis: 8/1
  3. Hyo Joo Kim: 14/1
  4. So Yeon Ryu: 14/1
  5. Shansan Feng: 14/1
  6. Ariya Jutanugarn: 14/1
  7. Amy Yang: 18/1
  8. Michelle Wie: 22/1
  9. Anna Jordqvist: 25/1
  10. Azahara Munoz: 25/1

Ouch. We liked Inbee Park and Stacy Lewis, but with Lydia Ko not particpating it makes their odds weak. Stacy Lewis has only tied for 8th and 11th to show for it, and Inbee Park – jury is still out on her this season at the moment. A few weeks break, but we actually find that a break is BAD for her and that playing every week is where the money is.

If you have an account at a betting exchange, lay the hell out of them.

Winner #1: Amy Yang

Yangs highest place finish in previous years was 4th. The key to that though was she played very consistent golf over that period. You will see a lot of erratic golf here but not from Yang hopefully.

Yang has two Top 5 finishes already this season. Here’s our main concern – she doesn’t fare well when it comes to back to back tournaments usually. There’s been the odd exception to that rule(tail end of the 2013 season) so that’s going to put us off betting a lot on her.

We’ll do a quarter unit bet on Amy Yang E/W.

Bet: E/W 18/1 odds on Amy Yang, bet a quarter unit at .

Winner #2: Ariya Jutanugarn

It would be really cool to see a Thai take this tournament, and hopefully that will give Ariya Jutanugarn more motivation. Ariya has had a tremendous season thus far. She was 11th in the Coates, tied for 2nd the week after that, then last week at the Aussie Open came 3rd. She is having the form of her life at the moment.

She’s also coming into this off a 2nd placed finish 2 years ago – where pressure got to her more than anything else and she had a bad final round. Last season she played some bad golf to be honest – but she took time off and is rejuvenated.

Bet: Ariya Jutanugarn 14/1 E/W at .

Winner #3: So Yeon Ryu

She’s not had the greatest start to this season, but this is a course that Ryu has history on which is good. She was 3rd here 2 years ago. She also showed some decent form in the Coates.

Bet: Half unit on Ryu at 14/1 at .

In addition, two long shot bets.

Gerina Piller is 66/1. Piller was HORRIBLE last week, but she played well at the LPGA Classic and hopefully last weeks performance will get the American focused. Piller came tied for 5th here last year, and is someone we have found can be consistent on the same courses. Not enough to warrant a full bet or anything – but worth a small bet. Quarter unit.

Lexi Thompson at 35/1. She came 7th at the Pure-Silk Bahamas, and came 5th here last year. She struggled hard last season after the early start where she kicked butt and she may be moving out of betting contention – but at this point, I think it’s worth a quarter unit bet to see if Lexi can show us she still has what it takes.

Yani Tseng: No matter how badly she does, she seems to always do well at the Honda LPGA Thailand. We’re feeling risky and will be betting a full unit on her at 100/1 but we recommend probably a quarter unit.

HONDA LPGA THAILAND RESULTS & ANALYSIS:

What a tremendous week!

We were a bit worried with so many picks for the LPGA but so many stood out. And holy crap. Not only did we manage to pick the WINNER but we also picked the 100/1 Yani Tseng who was leading after Day 1, and came 2nd!!!!

Here are the betting slips:

We had a lot of new traffic last week, so hopefully some of you guys got on. It could have been an even better week too – Ariya Jutanugarn had a freak 77 day and if not for that, she was probably in the Top 5 as well. Welcome back LPGA!
