This week in the LPGA, we have the Marathon Classic.

We’re coming into it off the back of a successful US Womens Open. Nothing huge of course as we didn’t even double our bet – but we still profited and that’s what matters.

Here’s the result:

So this week is the Marathon Classic, played at the Highland Meadows Golf Club in Sylvania, Ohio. Created in 1984 and named after Judd Silverman, a PGA Tour caddie at the time – it’s now had a lot of different names as sponsorship kicks in. It’s known to LPGA Fans as the Jamie Farr Classic, but has had quite a few different names over the years and doesn’t even have Jamie Farr in the name now.

Last year, Lydia Ko took it down beating So Yeon Ryu by one stroke in a tight finish where Ko hit 65 on the last day. The previous year, Beatriz Recari won it by 1 stroke, and the year before that So Yeon Ryu dominated it with a -20 win, 7 strokes ahead of 2nd place.

Let’s check out the LPGA betting odds:

Some interesting odds. Let’s get to the betting tips:

Marathon Classic Betting Tip #1: Lydia Ko

Last years winner is 8/1 which is no surprise considering her recent form. Apparently she has been having issues with the grind and is home sick which is a shame but completely understandable.

We saw how she plays without pressure last week in the womens open. After a poor opening two days she finished up with a nice couple of rounds and we have to hope she can continue that lack of pressure affecting her and channel it into a nice performance here.

However Ko is a fair bit of a concern at the moment so we won’t go balls to the wall on her, instead a half unit on her to win.

Bet: Lydia Ko to win, half a unit at .

Marathon Classic Betting Tip #2: So Yeon Ryu

We’ll take that other half unit, and bet it on So Yeon Ryu.

She has been amazing at this course. In 2012 she had that incredible -20 win where she shot a 62 on the last day – but even prior to that, she has had some excellent resuts on this course. In 2013 she came tied for 12th with a -8 and she was in poor form going into it, but last year she had the 2nd place finish.

A 5th place performance at the US Open could have been much higher with a better first day and So Yeon Ryu is coming into this with excellent course form and solid current form. Easy half unit bet.

Bet: Half a unit on So Yeon Ryu to win at .
