The PGA Tour is back with the first tournament of 2016, and it is the Hyundai Tournament of Champions.

This tournament, founded back in 1953 and known then as the Tournament of Champions, is a prestigious event which takes place currently in Kapalua, Hawaii.

Last year we had an excellent winning Hyundai tournament with a massive 5 unit bet on Hideki Matsuyama. We played him to be the Top Asian Winner and he delivered although it was a bit of a nerve wracking finish as Bae was keeping it close.

Last years winner was Patrick Reed. He was 18/1 at most books and the 8th favourite and he delivered while last years favourite Bubba Watson came in 10th. It’s an interesting tournament of course with a lot of high scores – but usually the cream of the crop rise to the top for this one.

Let’s check out the odds then get to the tips. And apologies if we’re a bit rusty what with it being a new year and all but I’ll try my best!

Hyundai Tournament of Champions 2016 Betting Odds:

  1. Jordan Spieth: 9/2
  2. Jason Day: 11/2
  3. Dustin Johnson: 15/2
  4. Bubba Watson: 10/1
  5. Patrick Reed: 10/1
  6. Rickie Fowler: 10/1
  7. Zach Johnson: 18/1
  8. Kevin Kisner: 18/1
  9. Brooks Koepka: 25/1
  10. Graeme McDowell: 25/1

Justin Thomas is also 25/1.

Hyundai Tournament of Champions Betting Tip #1: Brandt Snedeker

Snedeker is one name where you have to double check as to why he is even in the tournament of champions. It’s all because of his win last February at Pebble Beach. Which we’d like to note, we correctly predicted!

He had a fairly torrid season although it started well with a bunch of top 10s. He looked solid at the end of May before dropping off again.

However he is a big tournament player. He tied for 12th in the PGA Championship, and was 8th in the US Open. He also has a solid history at this tournament with a 3rd place back in 2013.

At a whopping 66/1 we don’t think he is going to win but we do believe he has the skills to battle the top guys and we’re going to place a half unit bet on Brandt Snedker for a Top 4 Finish.

Bet: Half unit bet on Snedeker for a Top 4 finish at the Hyundai Tournament of Champions. You can get 11/1 on that at .

Hyundai Tournament of Champions Betting Tip #2: Patrick Reed

Patrick Reed winning last year was no fluke. On a course where putting is instrumental he demonstrated his putting skills on the big stage and did a great job of it – taking the win.

His putting is still excellent as is his ability to get on the green. He started the season with 4 top 20 finishes and we hope the break hasn’t affected his form.

It’s doubtful that he’ll win and we don’t think 10/1 is worth that bet. However we will place a full unit bet on Patrick Reed to finish in the top 4.

Bet: Defending champion Patrick Reed to get in the Top 4. You can get 9/4 odds on this at .
