Happy New Year to all fans of Lawro and, of course, regular visitors to Sports Betting Tips. I hope you all had a great end to 2015, and you’re looking forward to a successful 2016 in sports betting. Now, I know Lawro did some predictions for the last games of December, but we’re only interested in the Saturday fixtures that Lawro does predictions for. We’re also hoping that Lawro starts 2016 better than he finished 2015. There were some weird scores over the Christmas period, but Arsenal were the ones that finished 2015 top of the English Premiership. Leicester City confirmed their title credentials with a battling draw against Manchester City, after losing out to Liverpool on Boxing Day. A lot of sides just traded points between each other, with no real big moves, and Chelsea and Manchester United got their seasons back on track with a 0-0 draw.

Like I said, Lawro ended the year on a losing note, and although he had a decent Boxing Day, with a correct score and some correct win predictions, he still managed to lose 3.33 units. Not exactly the greatest end to 2015 years for followers of Mark Lawrenson’s predictions, is it? Our loss is continuing to build, and now Lawro’s tips have cost us -15.46 units. It’s not exactly getting better for us, is it?

And if you decided that you want to bet on Mark Lawrenson’s predictions for this week’s English Premiership fixtures, you should head on over to our good friends at Bet365, as they are are doing their Bore Draw promotion again this week. Remember, if you place a bet of up to on any of the correct score, half-time/full-time or scorecast markets, and the game finishes 0-0, Bet365 will refund your money. So once you’ve looked at Lawro’s tips, head on over to our good friends at Bet365 and get your money down.

West Ham vs Liverpool

First game of the day, and it’s not the most exciting game on paper, but, hey, stranger things have happened and we might get some excitement to start the New Year in the English Premiership. Now, do you think that because it’s 2016, do you think Lawro has changed his ways when it comes to Liverpool? Of course not. He’s predicting a 2-0 win for Liverpool.

Liverpool win price: 21/20

Correct score price: 17/2

Arsenal vs Newcastle

A nice way to start the year for Arsenal, hopefully. However, they did drop points at Southampton, and it’s clear that their home form is far superior compared to their away form, as they were far better than Bournemouth at the Emirates, never looking like losing to the Cherries. So the chances are that they should have far too much for Newcastle, and Lawro agrees, going for a 3-0 win to Arsenal.

Arsenal win price: 2/7

Correct score price: 15/2

Leicester vs Bournemouth

These are the games Leicester need to win if they are to continue their title challenge. After picking up 1 point out of 6 over a trick Christmas period, they’ll be thankful to see a team outside of the title contenders facing them to start 2016 off. Bournemouth have a lot of confidence behind them, but they were dismantled comfortably by Arsenal, and Leicester have home advantage here. But Lawro thinks it’s going to be a 1-1 draw, as he still seems to hate Leicester.

Draw price: 14/5

Correct score price: 13/2

Manchester United vs Swansea

I seem to say that every match is huge for Louis van Gaal, and, yeah, this one is. His Manchester United side should be able to outlclass the stuttering Swansea side, and if they don’t, then more questions will be asked about him, his tactics and the current crop of Manchester United players. But Lawro thinks that the 0-0 draw with Chelsea was a turn in Manchester United’s fortunes, and he’s predicting a comfortable 3-0 win here for the Red Devils, to ease a tiny bit of pressure on Louis van Gaal.

Manchester United win price: 11/20

Correct score price: 10/1

Norwich vs Southampton

The problem with the English Premiership is that you get fixtures like that which only really appeal to the die-hard fans of either club. Although, to be fair, we don’t have to sit down and watch it on TV, and sometimes matches like this throw up some great excitement. And Lawro thinks we’re going to be a nip-and-tuck encounter, plumping for a 2-1 for Norwich. It’s a real coin toss, and it could well be, although Southampton are capable of some big results, and getting a win at Carrow Road might just be possible.

Norwich win price: 11/5

Correct score price: 12/1

Sunderland vs Aston Villa

OK, I might have dissed the previous game between Norwich and Southampton, but Sunderland versus Aston Villa at the Stadium of light truly could be the worst game of 2016, and it’s the first week of fixtures. Sorry to all Sunderland and Aston Villa fans, but I don’t think you could be too enthused about this game either. Neither side is playing great football, neither side seems capable of stringing any kind of run together, and it’s been a miserable season so far for both sets of fans. Can that change in the New Year? Well, Lawro thinks Sunderland are going to get back to winning ways, with a 2-0 over Aston Villa.

Sunderland win price: 6/4

Correct score price: 11/1

West Brom vs Stoke

I’m sure we can all agree that Stoke, after a terrible start to the season, have become the team to watch over the past few months. Something has clicked now that Shaqiri and Bojan have got a chance to start firing on all cylinders, and they’ve taught a real lesson to both Manchester sides, although it has been at the Britannia. But their away form hasn’t been too poor, either, and they’ll be confident of getting something at the Hawthorns. That being said, Lawro is going against the trend and is predicting a 2-0 win to West Brom. Interesting choice, as I would have thought Lawro would have been following the form side. Obviously not!

West Brom win price: 9/5

Correct score price: 12/1

Watford vs Manchester City

The fearless Watford host Manchester City, a side who don’t seem to enjoy travelling. It’s an interesting game, and Watford have really impressed, especially up front. Yes, on paper, it should be a routine win for City, but Watford haven’t made life easy for sides coming to Vicarage Road, and Lawro is of the opinion that Manchester City are going to be an exception to that. He’s going for a 1-1 draw here, which, in all honesty, surprises me a bit. It’s not that I disagree, but Lawro not going for a win for the favourites here is just a little bit surprising.

Draw price: 3/1

Correct score price: 7/1

Crystal Palace vs Chelsea

A big London derby, with both sides no doubt confident of getting a win here. Chelsea will be wanting to start the New Year with a win, but Selhurt Park isn’t a great place to come to if you’re trying to do that. Alan Pardew’s side are playing without fear at the moment, and the fact that Chelsea have been so poor of late is only going to bosst their confidence. But Lawro thinks that Chelsea will be too strong on Sunday, and is predicting a 2-1 for Guus Hiddink’s side.

Chelsea win price: 11/10

Correct score price: 17/2

Everton vs Tottenham

The second game of the weekend, and it’s looking like a close one on paper. Both sides have strong squads, they’ve got goals throughout the side, and it could be a great game for the neutral. But where does Lawro think the points are going to go? Well, he’s going for an Everton win in what could be a tight affair. He thinks the Toffees will run out 2-1 winners, starting their 2016 off with a bang.

Everton win price: 9/5

Correct score price: 10/1

A few interesting choices here, especially Lawro’s prediction of a 1-1 draw between Watford and Manchester City. It’s also worth nothing that Lawro has not predicted a Liverpool defeat, or an Arsenal defeat so far this season. He’s overestimated Liverpool’s capabilities, while getting Arsenal’s close enough. Maybe, just maybe in 2016, Lawro will predict a defeat for Liverpool, and he also might start getting back to winning ways.
