One of the shock fixtures in the Round of 16 sees Hungary taking on Belgium after Hungary topped Group F, and Belgium could only finish second in Group E. However, the Belgians will be more than happy, after Group E winners ended up with Spain. Hungary will take on Belgium in the final game of the day on June 26th at the Stadium Municipal in Toulouse.
Hungary came into this game undefeated, with 1 win and 2 draws. Their opening 2-0 won over Austria sent out a clear message that they were a force to be reckoned with, then their 1-1 draw with Iceland summed up their fighting spirit. As for their 3-3 draw with Portugal, well, it was just a great, open game. Hungary’s 6 goals have come from all over, which also include one own goal. Balazs Dzsudzsak is their current top goalscorers with 2 goals, which both came against Portugal in their final game in Group F.
Belgium started off with a disappointing 2-0 defeat to Italy, but they then they sent their stall out with a thumping 3-0 win over Ireland, and they finished off with a tight 1-0 win over Sweden. In all three games, Belgium created several chances, but struggled against Italy and Sweden to finish them, while they were lethal against Ireland. It’s been a mixed bag from one of the pre-tournament favourites, and the second-best team in the world according to FIFA rankings, but they’ll be happy with their performance coming into this. Of their 4 goals, Romelu Lukaku is Belgium’s top goalscorer with 2 goals.
Belgium have faced Hungary 12 times, with Belgium winning 8, Hungary winning 2, and there have been 2 draws. Their last meeting came in 2009, which was a friendly, and Belgium won that 3-0. Their last competitive fixture was in the 1982 World Cup, which ended in a 1-1 draw. Belgium have won the last 4 meetings, and are undefeated in their last 8.

Hungary vs Belgium Match Betting Tips:
Hungary have shocked everyone so far with their stunning results, and the fact they’re undefeated just shows how well they’re been playing. But this Belgium side that they are facing will be a cut above the sides they have faced so far. Belgium play a lot like Portugal, open, free-flowing football, and that was enough to open up Hungary 3 times. The Belgium defence has looked shaky at times, though, and Hungary will get their chances, but it’s a question of if they can take them. There’s no value to be had here, though, and although I would suggest a Belgium win, the price is too short to be worth backing. Let’s look at the prop bets instead, but if you want to back Belgium, go for it.
Hungary vs Belgium Prop Bets:
Hungary haven’t been shy in front of goal, and they’ve also shaky at the back, even looking dodgy against Austria for spells, even though they didn’t concede. I just think Belgium have far too much firepower for Hungary, and although they might get on the scoresheet, Belgium look good for a few goals. Take Belgium -1 and look for the same kind of performance that they put in against Ireland.
If you are a bit more cautious, over 2.5 goals is the other play. It’s going to be another open game, just like Hungary vs Portugal, and we had 6 goals there, so I expect a few here.
