April 18th, 2017 Betting Tips: NBA & NHL Playoffs, MLB

Vin

Playoff time is heating up in the NHL with the series getting into the nitty gritty. The Penguins have a chance to complete the sweep tonight in Columbus. The Blue Jackets had a great season, but you knew they were in trouble once they drew the Penguins in the first round. The Penguins are just built for the playoffs and they will be dangerous as always.

We also have the Sharks looking to even their series against the Oilers at 2-2 tonight. It’s been fun to watch this young Oilers team thus far as they have played hard every night, but you have to think the Sharks experience will favor them as this series gets longer. Then again, I’m not sure I ever want to doubt what Conor McDavid can do.

In the NBA the series are still young, but we have some teams that are looking to even the score early. The Bucks beat the Raptors because the Raptors always lose the first game of a series. They’ll look to even it up tonight. The same can be said for the top seeded Celtics who lost to the Bulls on Sunday. It’s hard to even talk about that game analytically considering the real life tragedy that befell their star Isaiah Thomas.

The Clippers were also a higher seed who lost and they’ll look to even it up against the Jazz tonight.

NBA Betting Tips:

As I said in the open, the Raptors always lose the first game of a series. ALWAYS. They are now 1-11 in Game 1 and game two should be much kinder to them. They are one of the most talented teams in the conference and have the far superior defense. They don’t have much of an answer for Giannis, but few teams do. They should be able to score much better in the second game and shutting down the non-Giannis Bucks is doable. I think the Raps bounce back in a big way tonight, Toronto -7.5.

The Clippers and Jazz are two of the most evenly matched teams in these playoffs and even without Rudy Gobert, I think this will be another close one. These two teams just match up well and this remains the best series of the playoffs. The line on this one is way, way too high and I think the Jazz +9 will cover in a close game.

NHL Betting Tips:

I really liked Columbus coming into the playoffs, but their goaltending has been shoddy and the Penguins have just dominated them in every way. They’ve outscored them 12-6 in this series and only one game was even close. This should be the end of the Jackets run tonight as the Penguins +115 should get it done.

Since stealing game one in overtime, the Sharks have been held scoreless in their last two games. You have to think there will be some desperation on their part tonight as they know how hard a 3-1 lead can be to overcome. I am not quite ready to take the Sharks due to that, but I am expecting a tight, close game. Under 5 goals is in play.

MLB Betting Tips:

The Mariners offense has really been clicking over the past few games and they are starting to look like the team that we thought they would be before the season. A dangerous offense with great outfield defense and a solid bullpen. Their lineup is scary and Wei Yin Chen is exactly the type of pitcher that they feast on. I’m surprised to see the line on this one so low and will be jumping all over it. Mariners -111
