Vin

A 3-1 record last night.

The Angels offense really bailed us out after a rough first inning from Shohei Ohtani. He allowed four runs in that first inning, but the Angels offense charged back and got the win. Mike Trout continued his amazing ways with a 4-for-5 night.

The same can be said of the Braves/Cubs game. We had the Braves who came out to a 4-0 first inning lead. They ended up giving it back and this thing was tied 5-5 heading into the bottom of the fifth. We laid the runs so we need some help here and Freddie Freeman came through with a big homerun.

We also got the win in a nail biter as the Athletics took a 2-1 win over the Rays. Our only loss was Corbin Burnes, one of the best pitchers in baseball, getting hit by the Marlins. Sometimes stuff like that happens.

I have three MLB tips and an NBA play for you today.

Minnesota Twins at Cleveland Indians Betting Tips:

Starter FIP- wRC+ Rank L14 Rank Bullpen Rank L14 Rank Park
MIN Kenta Maeda 105 111 4 100 10 98 15 98 13
CLE Aaron Civale 114 99 17 83 27 97 13 106 19 103

This is a match-up of two pitchers with opposite luck. Civale has outpitched Maeda, but he also has a .177 batting average on balls in play and an 80.8% left on base percentage. That is not going to keep up. The Twins are a much better offense, especially thus far in the season against right handed pitching.

Maeda has a high homerun rate and a .400 BABIP. He’s a lot better than what we’ve seen so far. The Indians offense has been weak and should make him look good here today.

The weather should be nice here as well with winds blowing out to right-center at 10-15 MPH.

Washington Nationals at Toronto Blue Jays Betting Tips:

Starter FIP- wRC+ Rank L14 Rank Bullpen Rank L14 Rank Park
WSN Max Scherzer 82 104 12 82 28 101 23 105 16
TOR Trent Thornton 104 108 6 88 24 101 23 94 10 104

The Blue Jays are going with the opener here and that should work out for them. The Nationals offense has been pretty weak to start the season as they are dead last in homeruns with just an 82 wRC+ on the year.

Washington will send Max Scherzer to the mound and you know what you’re getting there. He’s picked up right where he left off with a 1.80 ERA/3.13 FIP thus far this season.

The stadium here gives me a little bit of pause as this game will be in Dunedin, Florida, but I think we see enough strikeouts to minimize that.

Bet Nationals/Blue Jays Under 8.5

Los Angeles Angels at Texas Rangers Betting Tips:

Starter FIP- wRC+ Rank L14 Rank Bullpen Rank L14 Rank Park
LAA Jose Quintana 113 106 10 114 4 98 14 96 12
TEX Mike Foltynewicz 133 91 28 95 15 101 23 120 25 100

This match-up has been good to us so let’s go right back to it.

Jose Quintana had a couple of rough starts to the year, but was able to right the ship last time out against the Rangers. The Texas offense has been below average for the season and has really struggled against lefties in the small sample. Quintana’s strikeout numbers have been there early and the Rangers offense loves striking out.

Mike Foltynewicz is a guy I don’t have a lot of faith in. He has a 5.32 ERA/6.77 FIP thus far on the season and that’s with a low BABIP and a high left on base. The Angels have been crushing it, no reason to stop backing them here.

Dallas Mavericks at Golden State Warriors Betting Tips:

The injuries have really piled up for both of these teams and it looks like this is going to be a straight-up Luka Doncic and Stephen Curry show. That is good news for NBA fans who love stars and great for us who like betting on high scoring.

The last five match-ups between these teams would’ve been over this total with the only under being missed by three points. These teams can put up points, even with their injuries, and they definitely aren’t going to defend much. Bet the over.
