Last night was one of those nights that prove how crazy sports can be. With everyone writing them off for dead and looking forward to a Bulls series with Lebron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers, the Milwaukee Bucks managed to force a game six with their first road win since 2010 to send the series back to their home court. Not to be outdone, the 8th-seeded Brooklyn Nets had a throwback performance from Deron Williams and managed to even their series against the top-seeded Atlanta Hawks. If that weren’t enough, in the NHL playoffs the Tampa Bay Lightning managed to stave off elimination on the road in their win over Detroit and the Washington Capitals ended their game seven blues by sending the New York Islanders packing. Say what you will about football season, but for my money this is the best time of the year to be a sports fan.

Tonight sees the amazing Los Angeles Clippers versus San Antonio Spurs series continue back in LA, the Houston Rockets trying to close out the Dallas Mavericks at home and a full slate of MLB action including a top flight pitching match-up between Madison Bumgarner of the Giants and the Dodgers’ Clayton Kershaw. It should be another great night of sports and betting so let’s get to our tips.

NBA Playoffs Betting Tips:

Here is a crazy stat for you: The Mavericks have outscored the Rockets in their series with Rajon Rondo on the bench. With Rondo done for the series (and forever with the Mavs) the Mavericks managed to win game four at home. The Rockets lead 3-1 in the series and are looking to finish it up at home, but they have clearly struggled to keep up with containing the Mavs on offense. Of course, so have the Rockets and neither team has really played a ton of defense in this series. Over 221.5 points is definitely in play here. As for the winner, this series reminds me of a bizarro version Bucks and Bulls series. While everything seemed to be trending towards the Rockets/Bulls for the first three games, the Mavs/Bucks never wavered and continued to improve as the series wore on. Nothing is this easy in Texas, give me Mavs +7.

The Spurs and Clippers has been an insane see-saw battle from the get-go. Thus far in the series no team has won two games in a row and I don’t think anyone will. That means the Spurs +2 is the play tonight. This one is going seven.

MLB Betting Tips:

The pitching match-up of the night is, undoubtedly, Kershaw vs. Bumgarner in Los Angeles. Two of the very best young pitchers in the league facing off is always a treat. Kershaw is the best pitcher in baseball, but Bumgarner truly believes he’s better and has the World Series MVP to back it up. The Giants, however, have really struggled this year coming off the World Series and are +175 underdogs against the Dodgers. The play here is under 6 runs as these two tend to bring their A-game against one another. Expect a duel and some quiet bats for both teams.
