A 1-1 record last night.

Last night was one of those nights where you wish you could just add the scores together. The Mariners absolutely dominated the Royals with a 12-4 win. This game was close at first, but Edwin Encarnacion had other ideas. He hit two homeruns in this one and the Mariners ended up rolling. Felix Hernandez did give me some scares here as he gave up four runs, but this was a bet on the Mariners offense and it paid off.

The Dodgers and Cardinals played a close one, but the Cards ended up taking it 4-3. This was a tough one as Hyun-Jin Ryu ended up not making it past the second inning due to a groin injury. The Dodgers had the lead, but that ended up being too much strain on the bullpen who ended up giving up the lead.

A few games we like today and a couple of these might look awful familiar. I’ve also updated the system to start including some regular season stats. It’s a small sample size so they are only going to be worth 1/4th of my weighting, but it did help with a few of these games.

Los Angeles Dodgers vs. St. Louis Cardinals Betting Tips:

This might sound familiar. The Dodgers are a really good offense that is clicking right now while Dakota Hudson really struggled in his first start of the season. He allowed three homeruns against the Brewers and I am expecting some more growing pains for the young pitcher here. The Dodgers have a 144 wRC+ thus far this season.

Ross Stripling has been okay thus far this season, but I’m really just looking for five or six solid innings from him here. I think the Dodgers win yesterday without the Ryu injury so as long as he can hold for the bullpen long enough to get to the good part, I think they’ll be fine.

Seattle Mariners vs. Kansas City Royals Betting Tips:

This one is very simple. Marco Gonzales is the best of the Mariners pitchers and is 3-0 on the young season. The Royals offense is not very good and I’m expecting a strong start from Marco here.

The Mariners offense remains red hot and I don’t really believe in Jakob Junis to have what it takes to stop them here. He had a 4.37 ERA/4.64 FIP last season which is nothing to scare me off.

The line on this one is somehow shorter than yesterday and I just don’t get it. The Mariners will eventually fall off, but we’re going to ride them until they do.

Texas Rangers vs. Arizona Diamondbacks Betting Tips:

Zack Greinke had that awful first start of the season, but bounced back with a 10-strikeout game his last time out. He gets to pitch at home today against a Rangers offense that strikes out about 26% of the time.

He’ll go against Mike Minor who is a guy that I have my doubts about, but has proven me wrong before. He’s looked decent this season, especially in his great start against the Astros, but that has all been at home. He’s historically been a slightly worse pitcher on the road. The Diamondbacks have hit lefties very well early as well with a .908 OPS.
