Not the greatest of days yesterday. Jan Dekker somehow found a big out shot in his crushing defeat and then Martin Phillips and Martin Adams found a tonne of 180s after such a slow start! Still, we’re now10-8 going into the last day of the BDO World Championships and we’re still in profit by a lovely +7.17 units.

A 5:45 start for the BDO World Championship Final and I think we’ve got the right two players here. Dean Winstanley and Martin Adams have played the best darts throughout the week and have consistently put in good averages compared to the rest of the field. You’d be hard pushed to find two more deserving finalists and I think this match could be a cracker, as both men can score big and both are proven fighters.

BDO World Championship – The Final.

Martin Adams vs Dean Winstanley.

England Captain Martin Adams, the number one seed, takes on Dean Winstanley, who should really take the nickname “The Count” frmo Ted Hankey thanks to his amazing lack of conting ability. Both men have been involved in great matches throughout the week and I think we could get a classic final between these two players.

On semi-final form, there isn’t much between them. Adams has the slightly better average and that’s all thanks to his big finishes. He had numerous finishes over 100 and that is, ultimately, what won the semi-final for him. Winstanley’s power is his heavy scoring and also his ability on double 20. Any other double, he’s questionable, but on double top, he’s in the mould of Dennis Priestley.

Adams is a short price to win this match, much shorter than I would have him, but his experience might shine through. Winstanley did look nervous at times against Jan Dekker when it came to closing out the match, but that’s understandable. However, the 15/8 available on Winstanley is generous from the bookies, who seem to have almost written off his chances, which has been the case for nearly every match he’s played this week.

I also think this match could go close to the distance, so the total legs line is aroud 46.5, which is a tad low considering it could go 12 sets, or even 13 sets and if you average it out at 4 legs a set, the line should be beat.

So, we have two bets for the final that are value.

Dean Winstanley to beat Martin Adams 15/8 @ Betfair.

Recommend: 1.5 units.

Over 46.5 legs in the Adams vs Winstanley match 5/4 @ Blue Square.

And that is the BDO World Championships done for another year. Whatever the result, it’s been a great tournament for betting, even if the darts haven’t been up to the standard we expected. It’s been a great month with the PDC and BDO World Champions crowned and I hope you’ve enjoyed my write-ups and my tips. So, enjoy the final and happy betting!

I’ll be back in February with Players Championships tips and also the start of the PDC Premier League.
