The Cleveland Browns are a fun story in football right now. After years and year of mediocrity, they decided to flip the script and bring in a guy from baseball who was known for his role in Moneyball as one of the architects of the late 90s Oakland Athletics. He’s an analytics guy who thinks that, much like the Cubs, you have to get really bad to get good in the NFL. That hasn’t always been how football works and there are a lot of people who think that it won’t, but time will tell. A ton of draft picks last year, a ton of draft picks this year, some more the year after that and maybe they’ll have some. The only problem is: that’s a really long wait. Will they wait that long?

The rebuild has never been tougher than it is right now as the Browns are 0-9 on the season with no signs of things getting better. They’ve played teams tough, including the Ravens way back in week two, but they just aren’t a team built to win games. They’re barely built to get first downs.

The Ravens aren’t the greatest team out there as they are just 4-4, but they could easily be 6-2 as they have played two games by four or less (and the other two by 8 or less). They have played great defense, but it has been the offense that has been the problem. Baltimore has no real running game to speak of.

This feels like an ugly game. The kind of game that you question why it is even on TV or why this is one of the most popular sports in the world. It’s going to be terrible to watch and the total should be easily under 45 points. The Browns could be shutout and the Ravens will score, but not more than usual.

That said, the Browns are said bad that you should feel comfortable laying the points and taking Ravens -8.

NBA Betting Tips:

If you are looking for something actually fun to watch, check out the NBA tonight.

You have Dwayne Wade’s return to Miami which should be plenty emotional. The Bulls were a surprise early in the season while the Heat just don’t seem to have the pieces to do it this year. Wade should really want to get this win, to show Riley that he made a mistake and I expect his teammates to do whatever they can to make that possible. Even better, the Bulls +2 are getting points in this one.

There is also a fun match-up in Milwaukee with two of the best young stars in the game in Giannis Antetokounmpo and Anthony Davis as the Bucks host the Pelicans. These two teams played a fun game in New Orleans at the beginning of the month that was pretty close, 117-113. The Pelicans have played a lot of teams close this year, but are still looking for their first win of the year. The way these two teams have played defense this year and the way they played last time out, having this one looking like a sure over 208.
