Hi everyone,

Two quick notes:

There are 4 games taking place on Thursday, February 20th for the Women’s World Cup. However two of those games might be completely meaningless based on results over the next two days.

I’ve decided to hold off on tipping those games until after Wednesdays games so we know if teams have anything to play for etc as that can be a big factor.

The other is that due to a family situation I may end up having to take days off here and there or even for the next week or so. Just wanted to post a heads up about that. Hopefully I’ll be able to keep the tips going as it’s a welcome distraction but just have to see.

Today we’ll be covering the lone Copa America game taking place on Thursday, June 20th which is Uruguay vs Japan.

We’ve seen both these teams in action thus far.

Uruguay got off to a great start in the tournament over 10 man Ecuador. Edinson Cavani and Luis Suarez were on the scoresheet as they ran wild all over Ecuador with a 4-0 victory. They dominated possession and were relentless in that one.

Japan were on the other side of a 4-0 thrashing at the hands of Chile. They did their best but it just wasn’t good enough. Stats wise it was a bit of an even game but Chile were just clinical in their finishing.

Japan have a different sort of squad however; they’re not looking at winning the Copa America. It’s a young team focused on gaining experience prior to the Olympics next year. We saw that with how they were a bit wasteful with their chances etc. There was still some bright spots from Japan such as Tafekusa Kubo who really should have scored in the second half.

Uruguay looked solid, got off to an early lead then when up 3-0 took the foot off the gas.

No surprise – Uruguay are extremely heavy favourites going into this one. They’re 1.16 favourites to beat Japan.

They’re also expected to dominate straight from the off. If we were looking to back Uruguay, the half time/full time result is out at 1.57 odds.

Even the over/under is out in terms of the over at just 1.57 odds.

I went back and watched the extended highlights of the Japan game. I was impressed with the chances they got even if they couldn’t bury them.

However one question is how Japan set up. This would be a good time for them to attempt to focus on defense. Theoretically they have nothing to lose so should go for it, but will they? And even if they do they really struggled to bury the chances.

This is one where I find myself flip flopping on two contrasting bets.

One is Uruguay to win to nil based on the theory that Japan come out defensive and look to stifle Uruguay. Unlike the previous game where they might have convinced themselves they have a chance, they know they don’t here and might just want to work on their defence. So Uruguay dominate the game and we don’t see any real attacks from Japan.

The other is Both Teams to Score which is appealing at 2.37 odds. This relies on Japan playing the same way they did in the last game against Chile but you know – actually burying one of their chances.

As much as want to bet BTTS due to value, looking at Uruguay results historically I think the more boring but more nerve wracking Uruguay to win to nil is the best bet.

1u on Uruguay to win to nil. 1.71 odds currently and available at https://www.Bovada.lv
