This week sees the return of the English Premier League, and I’m pretty excited for it.

For whatever reason I tuned out of it last season – not sure why that was. I still watched every week but it didn’t hold my interest. Really not sure why but it was weird loading up Football Manager or Fifa and not recognizing some of the players.

I think just my interest in other sports such as NHL and NFL have really taken over and it can be tough with so many sports. However being from Scotland nothing beats a game of fitba.

So I’m a lot more focused this season – want to get back into it. Spent the Summer really getting into it and rewatching everything from the previous season.

Looking forward to it.

I’m going to cover each game briefly here which is taking place over Saturday/Sunday and give my thoughts. It’s always tough to predict this early though so take what I say with a grain of salt.

Watford vs Liverpool: Looking forward to seeing how Marco Silva does. Liverpool missing a few players. It’s risky not knowing how Silva will set his team up and the injuries – I was leaning towards Over 2.5 but going to skip this one.

Chelsea vs Burnley: Not too confident in Chelsea at the moment. Hard to get motivated after winning the league. They’ll win a lot of games due to qualtiy but they will overlook the weaker teams. They’re a bit short on players too. Hazard is out too. Burnley aren’t someone I can back though so no bet from me.

Crystal Palace vs Huddersfield: I’m a big fan of Frank De Boer and I have to put faith in the manager here. I’m betting purely because of that – Palace to win.

Everton vs Stoke: Offensively I’m not sure I see much from Everton this season. i’d ideally go for Under 2.5 goals here however I’m going to instead back Rooney to score. Just seems a perfect time for him and something to grab the headlines early on.

Southampton vs Swansea: No tips on this one.

WBA vs Bournemouth: Love everything Bournemouth did during the off-season. I think they can come away with an upset win here. I’m backing Bournemouth to win.

Brighton vs Man City: City are going to have an amazing season and I think they’re completely underprices at 1/3 to start the season here. I’m going to take City -1 at 10/11 odds which is a nice price.

Newcastle vs Tottenham: Very unsure on this one. Not sure Spurs will be as strong and 2 years of coming so close is going to get them down. I’m going to bet Newcastle but that’s more because I have a soft spot for them and want to cheer them.

Man Utd vs West Ham: Looking forward to seeing United this season. I think they’ll get a good victory but I believe West Ham won’t score any goals. Looking at the odds, I’m going to take Both Teams to Score = no at 4/6. Seems the best and safest bet.
