A 1-2 record last night.

Denver and Philly played one heck of the game and we just missed the cover by three points. This was a tough one as when I wrote the tips Joel Embiid and JJ Reddick were listed as questionable. Well, they both played and combined for 49 points.

The Pistons were my favorite play of the night and they covered easily. Andre Drummond went off in this one with a 29 points, 20 rebound game. That Knicks roster is just a no-man’s land right now and I’m sure you’ll be seeing them again in these pages.

We had the Warriors -15.5 over the Suns and they showed both why they are so annoying to bet on and why laying that kind of points is a tough business. The Suns went up in the first quarter 31-26, which I figured would be good because it would motivate them to finish strong. Warriors went 34-22 in the second and it felt like I was right, but Golden State let the Suns back in with a 32-22 third quarter. The Warriors absolutely dominated the fourth and won by 10, but they messed around too much to cover the big number.

Nine games on the slate tonight, let’s see what we have to work with.

New York Knicks vs. Toronto Raptors Betting Tips:

The trash Knicks on a back-to-back against the Raptors? Yes, please. Both of these teams were active at the deadline, but it definitely had a bigger effect on the Knicks than the Raptors. The Knicks cleaned house while the Raps replaced their true center with Marc Gasol. It’s questionable if Marc Gasol plays this game, but I really don’t think it matters.

Toronto has won four of their past five games and has covered the last three games by easy margins. The Knicks defense just doesn’t have what it takes to stop this attack and I don’t think this one will be even remotely close. Raptors by 20, at least.

Orlando Magic vs. Milwaukee Bucks Betting Tips:

The Bucks in February are money. Their schedule is going to get much harder next month so we fully expect them to start stacking wins right now. This is a great match-up for them. The Magic and the game is in Milwaukee. The Bucks are 17-10 against the spread at home this season and 32-20 against the spread overall on the season. This team is just crushing teams right now. They’ve won six straight and twelve of their past thirteen. This is your number one seed in the Eastern Conference and they know it.

The Magic are 10-17 on the road this year. They traded Jonathon Simmons for Markelle Fultz which is a nice move for the future, but is a net negative now. Throw in the injury to Mohamed Bamba and this team is shorthanded against one of the deeper teams in the league. Throw in them having no answer for Giannis Antetokounmpo and I just don’t see how the Bucks don’t absolutely roll here. Magic rank 24th in Offensive Efficiency while the Bucks are fourth in that metric. Methinks they’ll have trouble keeping up.
