I think we can count ourselves seriously unlucky, with Martin Phillips having darts to win the match and put us on a perfect night and a shade below the elusive double figures. But, that’s how darts goes and if Phillips had hit the double top, or the double 5 when he needed it, we’re happy as Larry. But let’s continue the winning ways and get onto the next lot of tips for the Grand Slam of Darts and we’re into the last 16!

I want to mention the bookmakers that will give you some free money for depositing there. Is there anything better than free money? Well, more free money. So, use my tips along with these free sign-up offers and we’ll keep the great run going!

First off, Betfair. If you’ve not got an account with Betfair, why not? More often than not, they have the best prices and, thanks to the ability to back or lay a selection, you can bet in-play with ease and also lay your bet back should you think the tide is about to turn for your player. It’s where serious bettors bet and if you’re serious about darts betting, you NEED an account here. Plus you get a free bet up to £25, which is always nice.

I want to introduce our friends at Paddy Power They’re big supporters of darts and they’ll give you a £10 bet when you sign up through Darts Betting Tips. They have great money-back specials on all sorts of markets and are perhaps the most fun bookmaker out there.

Victor Chandler as a well established name in sports betting and they really get behind the great sport of darts. They’ll give you up to a £100 free sports bet, as well as casino chips is you sign up there. There’s not a better offer available and I’ve taken advantage of this for tonight’s tips, and I think you should too. Hey, if the tips win, great, but if, for some strange reason, they don’t, you’ve lost nothing!

Boylesports are another great bookmaker for darts. They have a huge variety of markets and they have a nice £20 deposit bonus. You deposit and bet £20, they match it. Simples!

are big supporters of darts. We find their markets to be amongst the best when it comes to darts betting, which is why we proudly support them. Plus, their £25 match bet is a fantastic offer, probably the best out there at the moment. So, why not sign up, deposit and have a nibble on our first tip of the night and Stan James will match it:

Seriously, if you don’t have accounts at any of these bookmakers, sign up, deposit and use your free bet to have a dabble on tonight’s tips. Now that that’s out of the way and you’ve got your free bets, let’s get the tips going.

Wayne Jones vs Robert Thornton

Robert Thornton comes in undefeated in the group stages and he’s facing a man who can feel a bit fortunate to be here, after Mark Webster several darts to eliminate him from the Grand Slam of Darts. Thornton has been playing some of the best darts we’ve seen from him for a long time and there’s no reason he can’t continue that against Wayne Jones, who’s been a bit patchy, to say the least.

Robert Thornton to beat Wayne Jones: Evens @ Boylesports

Recommend: 1.5 units @ Evens.

Tony O’Shea vs Terry Jenkins

BDO vs PDC, not for the first time in this tournament and the BDO boys have had the upper hand for most of the matches. Jenkins was a tad fortunate to record a 5-0 win over Stacy Bromberg in the last group match O’Shea can also feel a bit fortunate to win his last match over Justin Pipe 5-4, but with nothing to play for, it might have been a lapse in concentration. He can’t afford to do that against Jenkins, but O’Shea should get to the last 8 again for the second year running, at the expense of Terry Jenkins.

Tony O’Shea to beat Terry Jenkins: 4/5 @ Boylesports

Recommend: 1.5 units @ 4/5

Gary Anderson vs Colin Osborne:

Anderson almost broke a lot of hearts on Tuesday night, but he salvaged some sort of a comeback to ensure Wayne Jones went through and the Wolverhampton crowd were happy and Jones didn’t go on some sort of rampage. Anderson should have far too much in his locker for Colin Osborne, but the prices reflect this, as Anderson is around 8/15 to win, which does nothing for me, considering Anderson’s double trouble that is evident in most of his matches. Anderson should win, but we’ll watch in awe at his power scoring.

Recommend: No bet.

James Wade vs Mervyn King:

Whether Mervyn King went on some sort of rampage after his match against John Henderson on Tuesday night, we can’t be sure, but he went through comfortably, winning his group and scaring some new fans in the process. James Wade did just enough to get through and he’s now hoping to get his groove back and he might just do that against King. However, King has been playing well, is undefeated and Wade’s match against Vincent van der Voort showed some of his frailties.

Mervyn King to beat James Wade: 7/4 @ Boylesports

Recommend: 0.5 units @ 7/4.

Three bets over four matches tonight and I think we’re going to do well out of them. We’re going to ride the Tony O’Shea bandwagon for as long as possible, as I think he’s got the scoring ability to take a big scalp or two and it’s nice to see a bit of form coming from Robert Thornton.

And just a reminder that if you want consistently good prices, head on over to Betfair, where I like to bet in running. It’s the place to be if you’re a serious bettor.

Enjoy the first matches of the knockout stage, the Grand Slam of Darts only has a few days left, so we’re got to make the most of them. Enjoy and happy betting!
