The Chicago Blackhawks played their first game in 1926 when they were one of the Original Six teams in the brand new National Hockey League. Here we are nearly 90 years later and the Blackhawks are in the midst of their longest winning streak ever at 12 games. They beat the Nashville Predators handily on Tuesday to set the record and now hope to continue their historic run tonight as they face the Tampa Bay Lightning.

The Lightning have been on a run of their own as of late with a six game winning streak and they have looked like a much stronger team as of late. This, of course, is a rematch of last year’s Stanley Cup Final where the Blackhawks defeated Tampa in six games to win their sixth Stanley Cup. All eyes will be on this one tonight as it is most definitely the game of the night.

Of course, Thursday is always a great day for basketball as well and tonight we have a big nationally televised game between the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Los Angeles Clippers. The Cavs are fresh off of being embarrassed by the Golden State Warriors at home and will look to re-establish themselves as a top team in the NBA tonight. As always on Thursday there is plenty of intrigue and great games to bet on.

NBA Betting Tips:

With Black Griffin out, the Clippers have managed to maintain their status as the fourth best team in the Western Conference. Unfortunately, fourth best in the Western Conference is a long way from the top and this team desperately needs a new identity. They are still a tough out each and every night, but they just aren’t the championship contender that they consider themselves to be. The Cavaliers are that and tonight I think they show why. That loss to the Warriors was one of the worst of Lebron’s career and I think he’s got something to prove on a national stage tonight. Cavs -5 is the play and I’d be fine with it even if it ends up higher than that. I am that confident in the Cavs coming off that loss. This is a statement game.

The other national television game is the team that the Cavaliers might meet in the Finals as the San Antonio Spurs take on the Phoenix Suns. We’ve covered before what a hot mess of garbage the Suns are this season and the Spurs are arguably the best team in the NBA right now. They are a couple of games behind in the loss column to the Warriors right now, but their 14.2 point differential is best in the NBA. The line on this one just so happens to be Spurs -14 and we have to go with that. They are beating everyone by that number and tonight against the lowly Suns I expect them to do considerably more than that.

NHL Betting Tips:

As hot as the Lightning have been as of late, the Blackhawks have been twice as hot. How can you go against them at this point? Especially with the odds in their favor as they are tonight? Blackhawks +115 is a silly line with this team being so hot. They are absolutely killing it right now and I am going to ride it until it’s done. Getting them at an underdog price is just an added bonus.
