After the Winter break, the Scottish Premier League returns on January 23rd, 2019.
After a break it’s often best to stay away from teams and players. You just never know how any transfers are going to adjust things. There’s also nervousness, rustiness, fitness levels etc etc. Teams have had the time off to evaluate their status and you can sometimes see them come out with a different level of motivation.
You also can’t count on how teams played prior to the break.
However it’s gambling for a reason and I’m excited to see the SPL back in action so screw it all – I’m going to cover it with a few small bets.
Kilmarnock vs Rangers Betting Tips:
Very intriguing game with Kilmarnock hosting Rangers. Killie could overtake Rangers in the league with a win as they are just one point behind. They have the 4th best defense in the league with a 7-1-2 home record.
Rangers of course struggle away. A 4-4-2 record with a +5 goal difference. Not great. It’s very possible of course that Rangers know this is their issue and come out fired up.
Until Rangers start proving themselves away, I just don’t think we can back them here. Being a Rangers fan I obviously hope they do the business, but I always prefer placing bets based on actual data. And the data favours Rangers not winning.

Hamilton vs Aberdeen Betting Tips:
Looking at the stats from last year one thing that reigned supreme was clean sheets. Felt like some teams just weren’t prepared while other teams were ready for tight defensive victories the first game back.
That’s got me wanting to back a team to win to nil or for a team to get a clean sheet and Aberdeen are the team for me.
It could just be that bias playing a part of this however Aberdeen have an excellent away record. Third best in the league and a 3 game winning streak away including that one at Ibrox.
They went into the winter break on a high and I think they can come out of it on the same high.
Hamilton struggle to score. Their overall scoring record away is the worst but they still average less than one goal per game at home and they have been held out here with no goals three times this season.
I’m going to take Aberdeen to win to nil. That can be different depending on the sportsbook you bet at. It will be available but some may list it as Result/Both Teams to Score where you would choose Aberdeen & No. Either way we are betting the sheep shaggers to win without conceding a goal.
