A big series for the Wild Card race in the American League kicks off tonight as the Yankees host the Rays. The Yankees are currently in the lead with the Royals and Rays right behind them for that second spot (and the Mariners lurking not far behind them). The race isn’t quite as tight as it once was, but the Rays could definitely shake things up with a solid performance in this four game series.

Tonight the Rays have a great chance to strike with their ace Chris Archer on the mound. After a bit of a rough season last year, Archer has bounced back with a 3.10 FIP and 11 strikeouts per nine thus far this season. He’ll face CC Sabathia who has definitely seen better days in his career, but is still a serviceable starter.

We’ll also see a series begin between the Cardinals and the Diamondbacks. Arizona is the leader in the NL Wild Card race and already made the big move to add JD Martinez. The Cardinals have won three in a row, but are still quite a bit behind in the Wild Card race so this series could be their last chance to make themselves a contender in the NL.

MLB Betting Tips:

Despite the better pitcher on the mound, we have to go with the Yankees -112 tonight. They have made such improvements from their bullpen, they only need about six innings from Sabathia to lock this thing down. While Archer is having a strong season, he’s not unhittable and the Yankees are the most dangerous offense out there. Give me the Yankees at home tonight.

The Reds and Marlins game should be going over 9.5 runs tonight. They both have offenses with a lot of pop and both pitchers, Robert Stephenson and Chris O’Grady, don’t have any sort of pitching pedigree. Don’t overthink it, just take the hitters. They are going to score a lot of runs.

The Cardinals will call up Luke Weaver to start the series against the Diamondbacks today. While Weaver pitched well last season, he draws one of the worst match-ups of the night against the Diamondbacks offense. He’s been here before, but I still think jitters could be in play as he makes his first MLB start of 2017. Zack Godley has been great for Arizona this year and a big part of their success. This just doesn’t seem like it’s going to go the Cardinals way and we are taking the Diamondbacks +105.

CFL Betting Tips:

Tonight’s game between the Montreal Alouettes and the Winnipeg Blue Bombers probably isn’t a match-up of teams that are going to be vying for the Cup this season. Both teams have struggled out of the gate with the Bombers sitting at 2-2 and the Alouettes having lost their last two road games. The good thing about these two teams? They’ve been giving up points. All but one Bombers game has gone over 80 points and the Alouettes have allowed a lot in their two losses this year. You know what that means, over 51 is the play.
