The return to sports took a hit this week as an exhibition in Japan’s NPB baseball league saw an exhibition canceled as two players tested positive for the coronavirus. Japan has had relatively low numbers and has suspended sports for the past two months, but they were just gearing back up and then this happens.

No NXT odds out tonight. 888 (Americans try BetOnline) does have odds on AEW Dynamite tonight though. They also have the odds on the television ratings, but I’ll be staying away from those. With all that’s going on in the world it seems like ratings will be down this week for both shows. It doesn’t seem as if this will cause the season to be delayed at this time, but this just goes to show the potential hurdles that teams are going to face as we get closer to the relaunch of the NBA and NHL.

I left out MLB of that sentence on purpose because I am less convinced that the MLB is going to return. There are so many small market clubs that survive off of revenue sharing that don’t have a motivation to return without that coming in. The players want more baseball while the owners want less. The players want a prorated salary while the owners want to break the union. It’s not looking good for this or next year.

Bundesliga Betting Tips:

This game is at 1:30 Eastern so not much turn around here.

Werder Bremen vs Eintracht Frankfurt: This is a game where advanced stats really come into play. Werder has three straight shutouts, but the advanced stats show they they’ve actually been rather lucky. They have a negative expected goals over the last three games and it doesn’t seem sustainable. They are running into a buzzsaw here with Frankfurt having scored 8 goals over their past four games. I think this is a good place to grab the over.

Bet Werder Bremen/Eintracht Frankfurt Over 2.5 goals

AEW Betting Tips:

The odds for tonight are not pretty and feature a ton of chalk. Here’s what we have announced:

Chris Jericho (-1115) vs. Colt Cabana (+500)
Cody (-1115) vs. Jungle Boy (+500)
Nyla Rose (-500) vs. Big Swole (+300)
Adam Page & Kenny Omega (-1115) vs. Kip Sabian & Jimmy Havoc (+500)
Brian Cage vs. ??? (likely an unknown who he will dominate)

On their own, none of those are worth a bet. I could probably make a case for Big Swole here, but I just don’t see Nyla losing her first match post-title. I think they want to keep her strong and probably set up another match with Shida down the road.

I think 888 realized how ridiculous these odds were and added this prop to the betting slip:

Favourites Fest: B.Cage, Cody, C.Jericho, N.Rose, Omega & Page all to win their scheduled matches (-177)

The odds aren’t great, but this is probably the best bet on the show. I already said my opinion on Nyla Rose and I can’t imagine a scenario where Omega & Page, Cody, or Cage lose. If Jericho is facing Tyson then it’s hard to see him losing. Not the best odds here, but if you want to bet wrestling this week then this is the way to go.
