A 2-0 record last night.

Sometimes the fourth quarter is your downfall. I’ve seen it way too many times this season and I think it has been a big reason for some of our losses this year. Last night, it went in our favor in a big, big way. We took the Suns +12 on the road at Portland. They’ve been playing well of late and despite the rough road match-up, I figured they could get it done. Well, at the end of the third quarter it was 102-77 and I wrote this one off.

The Blazers had a big lead and not much to play for in the fourth, but that was an insurmountable lead and it would take a superhuman effort just to get the cover. Well, the Suns gave us just that with a 43-25 fourth. It didn’t matter in the grand scheme of things and the final score looks closer than it ever truly was, but I will take that cover every day of the week.

We also had the Celtics over the Lakers last night and they cruised to victory. Kyrie Irving led the way with 30 points and while LeBron James finished with a 30-point triple-double in just 28 minutes, this game was never really in doubt. Celtics are start to gel at exactly the right time.

A full Sunday slate with a lot of day games. As usual I’ll be staying away from those and focusing on the night games.

New Orleans Pelicans vs. Atlanta Hawks Betting Tips:

This feels kind of chalk-ish, weird as that is to say, but the Hawks look like a very nice bet here. New Orleans will play without Jrue Holiday and Anthony Davis so they are pretty short talent-wise for this one.

Atlanta has been playing good ball of late. They’ve lost their last two to Toronto and Utah, no shame in that, and before that won three straight. Trae Young has been balling out of his mind of late and with no Holiday to defend him I think he could have a big game here. Atlanta looks nice here.

San Antonio Spurs vs. Milwaukee Bucks Betting Tips:

This is the play of the night as it is a schedule alert nightmare for Milwaukee. The Spurs have a three-day rest advantage here and the Bucks played a late game last night at home, flew to San Antonio and lost time thanks to the time change/time zone change. It is also Milwaukee’s third in four nights.

The Spurs won four straight before their recent break and have a great 25-7 record at home on the season. They are a very small favorite here and I think if this was any team besides the Bucks it would be -8 or more. This is a value because the books put so much respect on Milwaukee. I respect them too. I just put down a future for them to win it all. The Bucks deserve that respect, but I see them struggling down the stretch due to fatigue and I’m not sure they need to fight so hard for this win. The playoffs are way too close for that.
