A 1-0 record last night.

We took the under in the NRL in the game between the Sydney Roosters and the Manly Sea Eagles. The total was set at 38.5 and the final score on this one was 9-8. So, yeah, that one came in pretty easily and safely. The under was a solid bet as both teams played solid defense as their offenses looked out of whack. The Sea Eagles got the win when their captain, Daly Cherry-Evans slotted a field goal from 25 meters to secure the 9-8 win.

I mentioned yesterday that the Olympics had yet to cancel and that might be the next domino to fall. Well, USA Track & Field has joined swimming in pushing for a delay to the games. This isn’t quite a matter of whether or not these athletes will be ready to play by the time of the Olympics, but the type of practice they will be able to do between now and then. With lockdowns in many parts of the world, practicing becomes a health risk and something teams are unable to do. Then again, I think it might be fun if everyone just shows up to the Olympics out of shape. We’d be fine if every record wasn’t broken for one year.

In other sports news, the ACC Defensive Player of the Year Tre Jones of Duke has declared for the NBA Draft. I’d expect to see a lot more players doing the same since it’s unlikely that we see any sort of NCAA Tournament this year. He is expected to be a first round pick as his defense should translate to the NBA. Tre is the brother of Tyus Jones of the Grizzlies.

NRL – Wests Tigers vs. Newcastle Knights Betting Tips:

Rugby worked out well for us last night so let’s go back to that well. Once again this game will be very late tonight/very early tomorrow.

Both of these teams started with a win in round one and look to continue that here. I found the Knights win more impressive as they managed to win by shutout, 20-0. While the Tigers got a 24-14 road win on the road here.

The Tigers are dealing with injuries with Luke Brooks and Paul Momirovski listed as out for this one. The Knights are going with the same 17-man squad they went with last week that performed so well. This should be a grinding style of rugby here and I could see another under hitting here. That total is set really high at 41.5 and the under looks strong.

That said, I am going with the Knights here. This is almost an even money play and the Tigers are healthy. Adam O’Brien, Mitchell Pearce and Kalyn Ponga are a strong unit and I think they get the win here.

Horse Racing Betting Tips:

I messaged my horse betting guy, Tim the Win, for a tip here and here’s what he had for me.

The 10th race at Oaklawn is the pick here today. The #1 horse UGO is a first time starter that is going off at 6-1 right now. The horse is trained by Jimmy DiVito who has had a lot of success here in the past and two bullet workouts going into this one should have UGO ready to go here. Look for the horse to take the lead and never look back.
