Well we lost the battle but won the war yesterday when it came to Liverpool vs Barcelona betting.
Our bigger bet was on Liverpool to qualify prior to the first leg. I then went with a smaller bet on Barca to win yesterday and that one lost in spectacular style as Liverpool had that incredible 4-3 victory.
Ended up making us a profit and I’ll take that any day.
What a result that was. I can’t be the only one that wasn’t even going to watch that game either. 3pm EST came around and I was planning on going for a run at 4pm. Ended up chucking it on in the background and after Liverpool scored, my interest was piqued just a tad. Ended up getting ready for the run at half-time…..then not leaving the house until well after the final whistle. Amazing game.
For Thursday, May 9th we’ll cover the Europa League action with two games: Chelsea vs Frankfurt and Valencia vs Arsenal.
Chelsea vs Frankfurt Betting Tips:
The teams drew 1-1 in Germany. Now we head to England where Chelsea have a perfect record in Europe, having won all of their games. Notably, most of them have been high scoring expect for the first game – a 1-0 win over Vidi FC – when they seemed to be playing more cautious.
Frankfurt have the one loss away but also beaten sides like Marseille, Inter and Lazio away.
Chelsea had some struggles domestically but turned that around with a 3-0 win over Watford in the weekend. Frankfurt have lost their last four domestically with a 6-1 thrashing by Leverkusen on the weekend.
Chelsea will be missing N’golo Kante which is absolutely brutal. Silly to have played him on the weekend with them wanting to land this trophy. Franfkurt fans will be hoping Sebastien Haller is fit but even if he is – he won’t be at full scale.
Betting wise it’s hard to see by Chelsea. Based on the results of Chelsea at home in Europe I’ll go with a high scoring bet. Odds are crap though so just a small one that I am fully prepared to lose.

Valencia vs Arsenal Betting Tips:
Valencia need to make a big comeback after having lost 3-1 in England last week. But I mean a big comeback in a game featuring Spanish vs English clubs? When the hell does that ever happen????
One concern for Arsenal will be their away form lately. In Europe they have logged that victory over Napoli away but they do struggle at times on the road. They come in off the back of some domestic struggles although that didn’t affect things last time out. Valencia went into that one on a bad run of form but got a confidence boosting win away to Huesca on the weekend.
Valencia were built on a tight defence but that has went astray lately. Arsenal are also making some real defensive muck ups.
The Over 2.5 just isn’t worth it as it’s worse odds than the Chelsea one. I’ll do a small bet on Draw or Arsenal. In saying that one quick note – Draw or Arsenal is 1.90 odds. If you bet Draw or Arsenal to win, 4.00 odds for each so you would make a smaller profit if you bet them individually. I’d advise doing that, then looking to cash out one of the bets depending on the score for additional profit.
In terms of tracking my own stats however I don’t bother with live betting or cash outs as that’d be a mess so I’ll go with Draw or Arsenal as the official bet.
