Group B is a rather lop sided group and we see the first game take place on Friday, June 15th as Morocco take on Iran. Later that day the two favourites to qualify face off with Portugal vs Spain.

This is the most important game for both of these teams. If they wish to qualify, a draw isn’t even a question. They both SHOULD be going out to win hoping they can maybe sneak a draw off one of the two big giants of the group. Of course we’ve seen things like that before in the World Cup and it doesn’t always happen. Both teams may be too nervous and shut up shop missing out on a big opportunity.

Iran participtated in the 2014 World Cup where they drew 0-0 with Nigeria, almost drew 0-0 with Argentina if not for an injury time Messi goal, then got thumped by Bosnia and Herzegovina. That was a particularly sad one as Bosnia couldn’t qualify anyway. National pride won out for them.

They qualified with some solid defensive performances. They won the AFC Group A with 10 games played, 6 wins and 4 draws. They scored 10 and conceded 2. Of course the rest of their opponents don’t have the best strike forces but South Korea can be pretty solid, but they held up well against them. And actually the only 2 goals conceded were in the last game against Syria.

Morocco qualified with a 3-3-0 record and 11 goals scored, none conceded in Group C of the CAF. So in a game where both teams really should go for it we have two incredibly defensive teams. Doesn’t bode well for a good game does it?

Morocco vs Iran Betting Odds:

Morocco To Win: 2.20
Iran To Win: 3.75
Draw: 2.90

Despite the fact that this is a game where both teams should really go for it and the win is important, it’s a lot easier to seeing them canceling each other out. This is a very tricky game to predict and I’m backing Morocco to win for just 1u. Read more about it below or place your bet at https://www.Bovada.lv.

Morocco Analysis:

Morocco are an interesting team. They’ve got a player like Hakim Ziyech who is an excellent player. He’s creative and also has 8 goals in 17 caps. Ayoub El Kaabi really stepped up in the Chan tournament and could be an excellent striker for the team. Honestly Morocco have the fire power to really take this one.

However they play differently and went not in possession are more focused on trying to keep the ball around the halfway line and a little bit in. I expect to see a flexible 4-2-3-1 depending on whether they are in possession or not.

They have the players and the talent but the question is whether they utilize that or not here.

Iran Analysis:

Iran are a real organized team and Queiroz has did a great job with them defensively. However their record isn’t that great when you think of the quality of opposition. They did a great job of course at the last World Cup.

Honestly from a player perspective I don’t really rate Iran at all but Queiroz is a great manager and he knows how to handle them despite their limitations. Their only real issue seems in games where they’re forced to “go for it”. In games where they’re happy to just sit back and defend that’s where they really excel.

Must admit the games might not be pretty, but I’m really looking forward to seeing how they hold up against Portugal and Spain. This game is a lot tougher to call

Iran vs Morocco Betting Tips:

This is one of the toughest games to accurately predict I find. Like I said I’d like to think both teams go for it considering the other teams in the group but I just can’t see it. It’s two teams that are going to look at just being happy with grinding out a point.

I think Morocco have the ability to unlock a defense but I don’t know if they can unlock the Iran defense. I’m going to take a nice simple bet of 1u on Morocco to win. 2.20 odds isn’t bad and you can bet that at https://www.Bovada.lv.
