A 2-0 record last night!

The Blazers and Pelicans put on a heck of a game for three quarters, but the recent schedule and lack of Anthony Davis really caught up with New Orleans in the fourth quarter and the Blazers ran away with it.

We also had the 76ers over the Clippers last night. Joel Embiid had a monster 41 point/13 rebound game and this one was decided in the second quarter. The Clips gave it a run in the third, but the Sixers closed it out for the win.

The sample size is starting to get there for us and we are starting to heat up. Let’s keep it going. A full slate of games tonight and we have picks on three of them. Let’s go.

Houston Rockets vs. Brooklyn Nets Betting Tips:

Houston is in a bad place right now. James Harden is listed as doubtful for this one and this team has rarely had both Harden and Chris Paul in the lineup at the same time this season. They are really struggling on shooting threes and the defense is a shell of what it was last year. They’ll figure it out eventually (Jimmy Butler?), but it will take time and I think we can safely count out another 60+ win season.

Brooklyn is a team that just needs a superstar. They have a great offense, they play hard and they have a nice rotation. This is never an easy out anymore and they play solid basketball. I don’t think they should be this big of a home underdog tonight. That said, if Harden plays? Don’t bet this.

Oklahoma City Thunder vs. Washington Wizards Betting Tips:

A match-up of two of the most disappointing teams early in the season. Oklahoma City is starting to heat up as they’ve won three straight, but that hasn’t exactly been against elite opponents. While the defense has been there, the offense has been in the bottom five of the league. They just don’t have much beyond Paul George and Russell Westbrook.

The Wizards are a mess. They are fighting with each other already and have been bad on both ends of the floor. 24th in Offensive Rating and 25th in Defensive Rating. They’ve only played two of seven games at home this year which doesn’t help and I expect them to be a bit better here, but I don’t see why they are favored here.
The thing that makes no sense to me in this game is the total. Why is it so high? These are not good offenses. The Wizards are desperate to win here and I think they lock down on defense a bit. That doesn’t bode well for either offense.

Memphis Grizzlies vs. Utah Jazz Betting Tips:

The total on this one is the lowest of the night at 204 which shows exactly what kind of game this is going to be. Defensive with a slow pace. You know who likes to play games like that? Memphis.

Utah’s defense hasn’t been elite early, but they are still top ten. I am excited to see Rudy Gobert go head to head with Marc Gasol in the kind of center match-up we rarely see in today’s NBA. The thing that is worrying me about this one is that Donovan Mitchell has been ruled out. He’s the most important offensive player on their team and without him they should struggle to score.

Memphis on defense has been great, they are top-3 in Defensive Rating and they’ve been moving the ball well, fourth is Assist percentage.

Utah is a tough place to play, but this is a big line for a team without their best offensive player. With this low total, it feels like a 104-100 kind of game. Give me the underdog and the points.
