A frustrating night for us last night, with Andy Hamilton losing out in a close on, Terry Jenkins just missing out and Ronnie Baxter never at the races. However, Mark Hylton did us a great turn, and we’re now 4-4, with a profit of +5.25 units.

Now we’re into the second round, with some tasty matches on offer. Wednesday night’s World Grand Prix action.

Again, for our free tips for the PDC World Grand Prix, we’ll be turning to Betfair’s prices, as they tend to be the best out there for the World Grand Prix and with our free darts tips, we want to give the best prices possible. Add to that their free bet promotion and it’s one of the best combinations out there!

Wes Newton versus John Henderson.

John Henderson has a decent win over Justin Pipe in his first ever match at the PDC World Grand Prix, but now he takes on the red-hot Wes Newton. Newton beat Colin Lloyd with an average of around 95, which is about 14 points better than Hendo.

Both men looked equal on starting doubles, but it was the finishing that set Newton apart from Henderson. Henderson’s finishing was shocking, hitting one in five, while Newton was hitting one in three. That’s the difference and it will show on the oche.

The bookies are with me on this, having Newton around 1/3. However, I think Newton will take this comfortably, so the handicap is where we’re going for our bet. -1.5 sets would mean Henderson having to get 2 sets and I just can’t see it.

Wes Newton -1.5 sets to beat John Henderson. 8/11 @ Betfair

James Wade versus Vincent van der Voort.

An interesting match here, with James Wade not looking too impressive against Steve Brown in the first round, while Vincent van der Voort didn’t look too bad in his first round match against Kevin Painter. Van der Voort’s strength was his finishing, hitting 6 out of 9 attempts at doubles. Wade’s finishing was nowhere near as good and thanks to this format, that could mean the match is closer than people might think.

Yes, we’ve been here before with Van der Voort and Wade and we’ve fancied him to do the job. It’s the same again tonight. I think the price is right for an upset.

Vincent van der Voort to beat James Wade: 11/4 @ Betfair

Recommend: 1 unit.

Raymond van Barneveld versus Andy Smith.

Two Darts Betting Tips favourites here, with the Pieman taking on Barney. Both men’s averages were roughly the same in the first round, give or take a few points, and their doubling was more or less the same, so this could be a close one.

Barney has put in some shocking performances on TV, mixed in with his great performances, while the same can be said of Smith. Although Smith’s TV appearances are a bit less in number than Barney’s as of late. But I think this could be a close match, with both men giving their all.

While I think Barney might just come out on top, you can’t rule out a Smith win, so the win market does nothing for me. But because I think this could be close, Smith +1.5 on the handicap is where I want to be.

Andy Smith +1.5 sets to beat Raymond van Barneveld: 7/5 @ Betfair

Recommend: 1.5 units.

John Part versus Brendan Dolan.

There’s only one man the crowd will be supporting tonight and that’s obviously Brendan Dolan. By the time he comes on, the crowd will be well oiled and will be right behind the Irishman.

Just going by name factor, Part should be a comfortable winner, but along with the home support, Dolan’s first round win over Wayne Jones was impressive. He averaged just over 90, which is almost 10 points higher than Part. His doubling in and out was also impressive, with both figures over 50%. Part’s figures were simply nowhere near as good and he can count himself fortunate not to be out, thanks to Adrian Lewis’ bottle job.

Brendan Dolan’s price just looks huge considering all these factors, plus Part will be allowed some time to himself before the match, which can sometimes play against him.

Brendan Dolan to beat John Part: 13/5 @ Betfair

Recommend: 1.5 units.

And that’s it for the third day of tips from the PDC World Grand Prix from Dublin. As ever, enjoy the darts and happy betting!
