The big names are all away playing in the WGC event this week, and you can see the betting tips for that here: WGC Cadillac Championship Betting Tips, but there’s still a ton of PGA talent in the Puerto Rico Open, and it should be a fun event.

This event, established in 2008, takes place at the Trump International Golf Club, which is in Rio Grande, in Puerto Rico. It’s a par 72, and has always been won by Americans.

Last year, Chesson Hadley set a course record with his -21, beating the previous record which was -20. If you’re not in the top 50, you’re in this and there’s a lot of great talent in here.

Let’s see who the favourites are:

Puerto Rick Open 2015 Betting Odds:

  1. Brendon De Jonge: 16/1
  2. Boo Weekley: 16/1
  3. Jeff Overton: 18/1
  4. Peter Uihlein: 20/1
  5. Emiliano Grillo: 22/1
  6. Vaughn Taylor: 25/1
  7. Chesson Hadley: 28/1
  8. Chris Stroud: 33/1
  9. Ryo Isikawa: 33/1
  10. Will MacKenzie: 33/1

A tournament ripe for some big winning, with the favourites being tied at 16/1.

Winner #1: Chesson Hadley

First let me state that if you don’t follow this tip – we don’t blame you.

Hadley is someone we like. We don’t really know why, but every week that comes up one of the first questions we ask is “Can we tip Hadley this week”. It’s just one of those stupid things. He has only got 5 cashes in 10 tournaments so far, and his last two tournaments he didn’t make it past round 2. Do you know the last time he came in the top 5? One year ago, when he won this tournament!

Hell – even at 28/1 the odds aren’t that great on him! We honestly have no rightful justfication for this betting pick – but screw it, we’re going with it anyway.

Bet: Hadley E/W quarter unit bet at .

And yeah – unfortunately that’s it for this week in regard to betting tips.

See – this tournament is tricky. Most players in it are going to be on a bad run of form. So technically, you can’t really give tips based on the fact that everyone is coming into this one poor.

In saying that, we also would recommend a half unit bet on Boo Weekley. Weekly has the ability, and actually has 2 decent results here a 3rd and an 8th. Nothing special – but well worth the price at 16/1.

PUERTO RICO OPEN RESULTS & ANALYSIS:

We came close this week. We had Boo Weekley who unfortunately got off to a bad start shooting over par on the first day, and then -1 on the 2nd day. That was brutal and cost us. He ended up tied for 6th and one more stroke would have saw him in the playoff. Chesson Hadley actually played solid, except for Round where he shot 76! If he had shot even par on that day he would have freaking won the tournament. Argh.
