Hi everyone,

First a quick note – I will be back to covering the NFL come playoff time. I have kind of checked out of it mentally in regard to betting etc over the last few weeks. That week where COVID was everywhere and I was away on vacation I didn’t do tips – then I dunno, I just mentally wasn’t up for doing them again and needed a break.

We’re back to the golf now. Last year was disappointing betting wise and the first off year I have had. Hopefully we get a better return this season.

We’ve got the Tournament of Champions. Crushed it here in 2016 with big bets on Snedeker and Reed Top 4. Cantlay last year we had for a profitable start to the year as he finished Top 5.

Let’s have a look:

By the metrics – Rahm should take this one but there are so many negatives on that. The long break he took, the new driver this week etc. Too risky for me.

$125 on Cameron Smith to be Top Australian:

The bookies have him at 6/4 odds and Leishman is next at 23/10. Looking at it, Leishman barely ranks for me by the metrics. My system actually has Herbert standing above him. Smith hasn’t performed great here when we have seen him which is a slight concern, and tied with Leishman last year. His course form is certainly a slight concern which is why I’m not betting more.

$175 on Justin Thomas Top 5 Finish:

Excellent course form here.Crushes it with the eagles and birdies here. Have to think he will finish in the Top 5. Would love to bet him to win but 8/1 is too tight for me.

$150 on Jordan Spieth Top 10 Finish:

Excellent performer at this course. It is of course quite stacked and not sure if he can win but I do think his performances here should be good enough. But disappointed with how little he has played lately – may be some rust there but I think he can get in the groove.
