It’s Wednesday which means I cover the golf and I’ll also be looking into tonights NHL and this weeks CFL action.

We had a win last week in the golf with Hideki Matsuyama at the CIMB Classic, as I correctly predicted this Top 5 finish. Could have been a great cash for an even bigger amount but unfortunately he only came 2nd.

Still – a nice golf season of wins continues.

This week in golf it’s the WGC HSBC Champions Tournament and thats the one I’m looking at.

I’m going with a top 5 finish for Rory McIlroy. he’s quite rightly the favourite here but I just can’t back him at the 6/1 odds he’s currently priced at. It just feels too much. He’s did good in this course but not great and I wonder if the long layoff since the Tour Championship is going to affect him. I feel much better with a Top 5 finish for Rory and hopefully he stays on form.

I’m also on two other bets. The first one is Bernd Wiesberger whose last tournament at this course saw him come in 17th. More importantly however for me is his current form. I’m extremely impressed with what he has been doing in the last month with some solid performances at the likes of the Links, British Masters and of course the KLM Open. At 50/1 I think that’s quite a decent price and will be taking him to win & E/W.

Finally I’m confident enough to put a half unit on Paul Casey to win and E/W. I love Caseys form at the moment and even at the CIMB Classic he performed well despite the tied for 21st finish. I’m backing Casey to continue his great form here.

CFL Week 19 Betting Tips:

Only two weeks left in the CFL season. It’s been a great money season for us with that back to back 4-0 set of weeks just a couple of weeks ago. Let’s keep the ball rolling.

I’m taking Tiger Cats -2 this week. Risky betting on East vs West at the moment but I love Hamiltons momentum coming into this one.

I’m also on Winnipeg -5.5. It sounds like they’re excited to be back on the field after that bye week and I think we’re going to see Ottawa drop points.

Have to go with Lions -3. Saskatchewan had their run but overall B.C. are just a much better team.

Finally I’m on Stampeders -10. They’re just too damn good and cover this spread probably 60% of the time.

NHL October 26th Picks:

The only favourite I like tonight are Rangers Regulation Win. I mean the Boston Bruins goaltender situation is a mess at the moment and you have to think the high flying Rangers can take advantage of it. They’ll just be pounding that net.

In the other games I think all 3 teams who are underdogs have value. The Oilers haven’t beaten anyone of note – at least that’s what a lot of people are saying – which is why they’re underdogs against the Capitals. But in the NHL anything can happen and the Oilers really deserve credit for their current position.

I also like Montreal to keep their strong run going. Montoya has stepped up well when called upon.

Finally I’m thinking Ducks at their odds are worth a play.
