Bellator 172 takes place on Saturday, February 18th 2017 and it promises to be quite the card.

As I type this, there are lots of rumours circulating that Mike Goldberg will be commentating which would be great for Bellator. He’s such a recognizable and trustworthy name and I’d go as far as to say he could be one of their most important signings.

Bellator keep putting on big fights with big names and they carry a fair bit of momentum between the big shows. I mean Bellator 169 didn’t have the big names and hit around 700k viewers so that’s pretty darn good.

This is another of the big ones featuring Fedor vs Matt Mitrione.

If you are wondering Where to Bet Bellator 172 you can do so at 5Dimes Sportsbook.

Bellator 172 Bets:

There are only 4 fights we can actually bet on so let’s analyze them all.

Fedor vs Matt Mitrione: I’m so excited to see Fedor fighting in Bellator. He’s also got a win streak going although it’s probably the most controversial win streak ever! Boy did he take a beating against Maldonado last time out.

Mitrione is bigger than Fedor and a solid fighter although he’s also got a bit lucky – his fight against Seumanutafa really should have been stopped.

I feel the size difference will help here plus I just don’t think Fedor is the man he once was. Mitrione bounced back with a huge victory over Oli Thompson and I’m taking Matt Mitrione to win.

Josh Thomson vs Patricky Freire: Thomson is a -210 favourite here against Patricky Freire. Thomson came to Bellator after a few straight decision losses in UFC but has got two finishes so far. Freire is coming off a knockout loss to Michael Chandler.

A lot of betting in Bellator is looking at the match-ups and how they will affect the future. In this one, Thomson has two huge finishes and the former Strikeforce Lightweight Champion is on a role. Bellator will want him to win here and possibly challenge for the Lightweight Championship.

Freire isn’t a tin can by any means but Thomson should be able to take him. I see Thomson winning this one via finish. Unfortunately we can’t bet that so you’ll have to eat the juice if you want this one. I’d double it with another favourite.

Chieck Kongo vs Oli Thompson: Kongo is one of those guys I’ve lost so much money on over the years. I bet on him he loses, I bet against him he wins. While he has his issues fighting however he has been on a solid tear in Bellator. He’s switched his fighting to controlling the fight and that’s worked out well for him.

Oli Thompson so far has never proven himself in the big leagues. Hell he even struggled in BAMMA. Until he proves himself we’ve got to bet against him.

This is where I’d advise a double bet of Kongo and Thomson.

Mauricio Alonso vs Josh Koscheck: Koscheck is going around saying Bellator is great because they don’t throw you to the wolves unlike UFC. That’s quite true in the sense that his last few fights in UFC were like a murderers row.

Alonso is not a good fighter by any means but I do think there’s slight value on him. We just don’t know how Koscheck is doing after being out of the octagon for a long time. Even when in it he’s always looked like he might be past it.

I’m betting half a unit on Alonso for the upset.
