A 2-1 record last night brings us to 14-7 in the playoffs thus far.

The Raptors covered the -13 spread en route to their sweep of the Nets in the first round. This was an absolute demolishing with a final score of 150-122. The big scorer here was Norman Powell who managed 29 points in just 24 minutes. Not to be outdone, Serge Ibaka had 27 points and 15 rebounds in just 20 minutes of play. With that, the worst team in the playoffs is gone.

Last night also saw the Jazz take a 3-1 series lead against the Nuggets. This was another crazy offense game with a final score of 129-127 and a very easy over for us. The sportsbooks have been real stubborn about adjusting the totals for this series and we were able to profit from it here. This was just a crazy game as Donovan Mitchell and Jamal Murray became the first players from opposing teams to score 50 points each in a playoff game. Mitchell became just the third player in NBA history to have two 50 point games in a series, joining Allen Iverson and Michael Jordan.

We took the loss with the Mavericks defeating the Clippers. Luka Doncic ended up playing, but Kristaps Porzingis was scratched so I figured we were still in good position. However, I underestimated Doncic as he is simply an amazing player. He might be one of the top-5 players in the game right now as he dominated this one with a 43 points, 17 rebounds, and 13 assist game. His final points came on this dagger:

Just wow. I hate to rethink my feelings on the whole series, but between Doncic at this level and Pandemic P – I might have to.

In the early game, the Celtics finished off their sweep of the 76ers. They will play the Raptors in the second round and that series starts Thursday. It’s nice to see the NBA wasting little time getting the second round started in the bubble.

Houston Rockets vs. Oklahoma City Thunder Betting Tips:

I’ve had a hard time getting a handle on this series. I really thought the Thunder would be able to take it, but they have rarely looked like the better team. They got the win last time out, but even then they had to push it to overtime and get a bad call from the refs to get it done. The Rockets weren’t great from the free throw line and their threes were down from earlier in the series. Some of that can be attributed to defense, but I don’t think it’s going to be a trend worth following.

The Rockets are just better and the best player in this series, by far, is James Harden. He’s going to have another great game here and the Rockets are going to win.

Bet Rockets -2.5

Indiana Pacers vs. Miami Heat Betting Tips:

The Heat are up 3-0 and they’ve covered the spread in every game of this series. Why go against it now?

This team would really like to close it out here and get the rest advantage on the Bucks heading into the second round. Let’s not mess with a good thing.

Bet Heat -6

Los Angeles Lakers vs. Portland Trail Blazers Betting Tips:

I’ve been high on the Blazers throughout this series even as the Lakers have taken the last two games. The Blazers have since lost Zach Collins for the rest of the playoffs and now the upset dreams seem dashed.

The last game does provide some hope for Portland though. The Lakers had a ton of turnovers, but the Blazers had so many fouls that it just about cancelled out the turnovers. The problem was ultimately the shooting from players outside of the big two, and even McCollum had a rough second half.

For the Blazers to keep this thing going, they need to shoot more from deep. The Lakers really struggle to beat teams when they make 15 or more threes in a game and that needs to be the Blazers focus here. I know that is easier said than done, but this needs to be the game where they go for that. Carmelo needs more catch-and-shoot threes, Lillard needs to turn on his watch, and the role players need to step up.

That’s a lot to ask for a Blazers win, but if they are able to fill up the three ball like I believe they will tonight – this one will go over.
