NBA betting tips for February 13th, 2024.

2-1 last night on Patreon.

L Pacers -9.5
W Nuggets/Bucks Under 231
W Warriors -1

A nice night, but maybe I was wrong about the Hornets. They might be better than they were pre-deadline.

I think the Pacers did a total no-show last night, but the Hornets offense has looked more dynamic over the past couple of games and is spreading the floor well. Tre Mann was a great addition and their lineups just fits better. Of course, they weren’t exactly playing the toughest competition. They are a team I’ll be monitoring.

The All-Star break is looming so only a few more games to finish out the week.

Today’s Patreon post is avaialble for free. I have three betting tips for tonight.

Oklahoma City Thunder at Orlando Magic Betting Tips:

No Gordon Hayward for the Thunder until after the All-Star break so this is going to be mostly the same team we’ve seen all season. That team is good.

The Magic have leveled up this season, but they still have a ways to go. This season, they are 8-10 against top-ten teams with a -5.9 Net Rating. They’ve won five of their last six, but that was against a pretty soft schedule.

OKC won by 12 in their first match-up this season.

Thunder -2.5

Sacramento Kings at Phoenix Suns Betting Tips:

These teams both play with pace, but I think this total is set way too high.

The big reason for that is the Suns defense. They have a top-seven defense over their last fifteen games and have played especially well in their home games. The Suns have allowed 117 or less in their last five home games.

These teams have already played three times this season, and the highest total was 236.

Kings/Suns Under 245.5

Detroit Pistons at Los Angeles Lakers Betting Tips:

The Pistons got notably worse at the deadline and are pressing the reset button. I wish them luck, but it’s not looking pretty.

The Lakers defense has played much better at home this season. They have a top-seven Defensive Rating in their home games, compared to ranking #23 on the road.

As usual with the Lakers, LeBron and Davis are both listed as questionable tonight. Reddish, Vanderbilt, and Christie are all listed as out.

I see this playing out one of two ways. Either the stars play and the Lakers roll. Or one or both sit out, and we see a 120-110 game.

Either way, I think this total is set too high given the talent level and defense of the Lakers.

Pistons/Lakers Under 241.5
