The NBA regular season is almost in the books and for some teams the playoffs have already begun. The game in Dallas last night between the Rockets and Mavs was a playoff level contest with the Mavericks pulling out the win with a last second strip of James Harden by Dirk Nowitzki. The Rockets are now a game out of the eighth seed behind the Jazz and two behind the Mavs for the seventh. Every game counts going forward for them and a few other teams.

While there are four games left in the season for many of the teams in the NBA, most of the teams in baseball have 159 games left. The season is just beginning and most teams are just moving on to their second series of the season. At this time of year I like to look for unders that make sense. So often early in the season the pitchers have the advantage because the opposing teams haven’t seen their stuff which can keep the scoring low. Of course, there are always exceptions.

MLB Betting Tips:

The World Series favorite Chicago Cubs are in action tonight in Arizona against the Diamondbacks. The Diamondbacks have seen some high scoring games in two of their first three so the line is at nine runs tonight. However, the Cubs have allowed just one run in their first two games. They send John Lackey, one of their big offseason acquisitions, to the mound tonight who is one of the craftier pitchers out there. He held the D-backs to just one run in his lone start against them this season and I think he can do similar things tonight. The Cubs defense is top notch and I expect them to hold down the powerful Arizona offense. Under 9 runs is the play here in a Cubs win.

Mike Fiers of the Astros is a pitcher that makes no sense. He doesn’t throw anywhere near 90 mph, but he somehow continues to get it done. He faces the Yankees today and I like his chances to confuse them with his stuff. He goes against Nathan Eovaldi who should also fare well today. He only allowed two runs in 14 innings against the Astros last season. Under 8.5 runs seems like it’s based on the last two games these two have played and not on what is going on today. Jump on it.

The Angels were one of the teams we targeted to go under their season win total in our Win Total preview and today’s match-up against the Rangers are games we’ll be targeting. The Rangers are expected to be a contender while the Angels are going to be bad. Easy enough. Throw in the Rangers +121 being an underdog and we’re all over this one.

NBA Betting Tips:

Playoff atmosphere. That is what we are looking at tonight as the Spurs face the Warriors in Golden State. The last time these two teams played, in San Antonio, the total stayed under 180 and the total for this one is 209 right now. I like under 209 on this one a lot. The Spurs are full strength and will be imposing their will on the Warriors. While Golden State has really struggled as of late and doesn’t have that unbeatable air they once did. This should be good.

The Timberwolves did an outstanding job two nights ago as they defeated the Golden State Warriors at home. They have a lot of great young talent who are really starting to click together and they are definitely a team to watch. They play the Kings tonight who are pretty much the opposite of that last sentence. Wolves +4.5 feels like the best bet on the board.
