A 1-0 record last night.

The Pacers were playing the Thunder at home and this was a tight one. It came down to the wire, but the Pacers prevailed thanks to a strong half. A big part of this tip was the recent schedule for the Thunder and that really did manifest itself in the second half. The Pacers outscored OKC, 58-43, to pull this one out 108-106. That was nice to see a bit of variance go our way. The Pacers were led off the bench by Domantas Sabonis who scored 26 in just 28 minutes against his former team.

That finishes up a 4-0 run by Graeme this week and brings our record to 14-4 since last Monday. We are aiming to finish this season strong to get us to the playoffs with a nice healthy bankroll. Let’s get to tonight’s picks.

Charlotte Hornets vs. Washington Wizards Betting Tips:

The Wizards are holding on to their slim playoff hopes right now and are definitely in a “win or go home” mode right now. They’ve won four of their last six with all four wins coming at home. They actually have a somewhat surprising 20-12 record at home this season and this feels like a good place to grab them. Bradley Beal has been really outstanding since this team lost John Wall and I can see him carrying this team here.

That’s because the Hornets feel more like they are in “go home” mode than win or go home mode. 3-7 over their last ten, 1-4 over their past five, and 9-23 on the road this season. This is the problem with building a team with exactly one good player. Kemba Walker has been amazing, but it’s hard to even say who their second best player is and that’s a problem.

I have my doubts about the Wizards playoff hopes, but I have much more doubts about the Hornets ability to do so. Washington is great at home and we’re taking them here. This line should probably be much higher.

Portland Trail Blazers vs. New Orleans Pelicans Betting Tips:

Speaking of teams in “go home” mode, the New Orleans Pelicans. No Jrue Holiday for this one which is such a blow to this team, especially playing a guard-heavy team like the Blazers. The Pelicans have dropped their last four games and they’ve all been by ten points or more.

Honestly, this team has no good reason to try and win. Anthony Davis is gone after the season and they can only improve their draft status with more losses. They currently sit behind the Wizards in draft odds and that can change with a loss here.

As for Portland, the team we are clearly picking, they are finishing strong. 7-3 over their past ten and they are currently just 0.5 games behind the Rockets for third in the West. We’ve seen the Pelicans without Holiday give up some big games to guards and you know that Damian Lillard and C.J. McCollum are licking their lips at the possibilities. McCollum has been especially hot of late and I think people forget just how good that guy is.

The 3-4-5 is a real dogfight between the Rockets, Thunder and Blazers and the difference could be playing in the second round. That’s big and I expect them to take no prisoners here and get the much needed win.
