We’re back, and by ‘we’, I mean me and the greatest tipster known to man, the one and only Mark Lawrenson. Yes, I can’t type that with a straight face, but, hey, what other option is there? No-one has the knowledge and understanding that he has, as well as a prediction column on one of the most accessed websites in the world, that Lawro has. But yes, we’re back after a week of international action, which consisted, at least in Europe, of a lot of friendlies, and the highlight of last weekend was undoubtedly England’s Jesus-like comeback at around Eastertime against Germany, coming back to defeat the World Champions 3-2, after being 2-0 down. And England then went out against the Dutch and backed that great performance up with a defeat to a team that isn’t even going to Euro ’16. Typical England. Another team that aren’t going to Euro ’16 is Scotland, who won both their friendlies in typical gritty fashion, winning both matches 1-0 despite being under the kosh for most of the game. Only great performances from McGregor and then Gordon in the sticks really kept them in it. The Welsh and Northern Irish played out a dour 1-1. And that now means that we’re back to Premiership action, and this is now the business end of the season, as, in theory, four teams could win the title, although realistically only 3, and, quite possibly only two. Yes, Leicester City still lead the way to Spurs, and then Arsenal, and the Gunners have a game in hand. Then comes Manchester City, also with a game in hand. However, unfortunately for City, they have great rivals Manchester United and also the surprising package of West Ham sniffing around for that fourth and final Champions League spot. With City’s awful away form, that could be a distinct possibility for the Red Devils of the Hammers, that’s for sure.

Now it’s been a while since we caught up with Lawro, but how did the great man get on last time out? Well, he got 50% of the results correct, but only managed to get one correct score out of those, with Newcastle’s 1-1 draw with Sunderland coming up trumps for him. That means that Mark Lawrenson made a massive profit of +0.22 units. Yes, Lawro managed to squeak a profit, even if it is just a fraction of a unit. It’s not really going to get him out of this massive hole that he finds himself in, and he is now sitting on a loss of -62.25 units. He really needs a miracle befitting his godly stature is he’s ever going to get out of this mess by the end of the season, as the weeks are slowly ticking by, and he’s not got long left to repay his faithful with a winning season.

So at this final stage of the season, Lawro is finally on the Leicester City Express, giving them a win over Southampton. But then that’s not really a shock, is it? I mean he’s been going against them for most of the season, and they’ve been winning, and he stuck to his guns hoping they would stumble. Now that he’s predicting they are going to come good, the wheels will probably come off of their magical season. Perhaps the real shock is that he’s predicting Manchester City will only get a point away to Bournemouth. True, City’s form has been awful recently away from home, but you would have expected Lawro to side with the big club, as he tends to do. Anyway, it looks like a solid set of predictions, and one that might give us followers some hope that he’ll come good before the season is out and the 2015/’16 Premiership champions are crownd.
