Right, it’s time for the final, it’s almost here, and because I’m running very, very late, let’s get right to the analysis of Michael van Gerwen versus Gary Anderson for the 2017 PDC World Championship.

Michael van Gerwen vs Gary Anderson

Michael van Gerwen
First round: beat Kim Viljanen 3-0 (103.34)

Gary Anderson

This is the final most will have expected, the top two in the world going at it, and Michael van Gerwen will either make it two world championships, or Gary Anderson will go down in history with a threepeat of titles. It’s going to be a cracker, that’s for sure. MvG made headlines last night with his record average of 114.05 last night against Barney, and if he repeats that tonight, he’s going to be hard to beat. It’s the highest ever average at the world championship, and obviously the Dutchman will be bursting with confidence now. However, Gary Anderson has been playing at the same consistent level as his opponent tonight, albeit he hasn’t put in a 114 average. But before that, he was playing just as well as MvG, if not slightly better.

The bookies have MvG a hot favourite here, but if you take out last night’s performance, both men were playing on par. I also think there could be a bounce after last night for Michael van Gerwen after his record-breaking feat, which sometimes happens after such a big performance. That’s why my first tip of the night is the unbelievable value on Gary Anderson to win at around 3/1, which is silly, considering he’s done the job on this stage for the past two years and will not be scared of MvG, that’s for sure. If it wasn’t for last night, Anderson would be a lot shorter than he currently is, so get stuck into that great price.

Second of all, get on highest checkout of over 150.5. Sure, the line is huge, but I think both men have definitely got it in them, and they will be trying their damndest over dozens of legs to get the job done, and whoever can hit the big finishes will be the one who takes the title.

That’s all for the PDC World Championship, but I’ll be back with more tips for the 2017 BDO World Championship shortly. I hope you’ve enjoyed the darts and my write-ups as much as I’ve had writing them. Until the Lakeside, see you soon!
