Title: Euro 2016 France vs Ireland Match Betting Tips/Odds
France take on Ireland in the Round of 16 in the first game of the day on June 26th. The game takes place at the Parc Olympique Lyonnais in Lyon. Both sides suffered differing fortunes during qualification, and there’s no doubt that the home support are going to be in full voice, but so will the travelling Irish fans, who seem to have made a lot of friends during this competition.
France won Group A at a relative canter looking at the results only. They won their first two games, beating Romania 2-1 and then Albania 2-0, before drawing 0-0 with Switzerland in a result that suited both sides to the ground. However, their two wins were far from comfortable, as both Romania and Albania had their chances to put France to the sword, but couldn’t take them. Their performances have also been puctuated with late goals, with 3 of their 4 goals scored coming in the 89th minute of later. West Ham’s Dimitri Payet is France’s top goalscorer so far with 2 goals.
Ireland left it late to qualify as one of the top third-placed teams in the competition, after beating Italy 1-0. Ireland opened their tournament with a 1-1 draw with Sweden, before being swept aside 3-0 by a dominant Belgium. However, that win over Italy was enough to get them through to the Round of 16. Ireland’s 2 goals have come from Wes Hoolahan and Robbie Brady. Their performances have shown the usual Irish spirit and will have felt unfortunate not to have beaten Sweden after a Ciaran Clark own goal.
France have faced Ireland only twice in history, with both games coming in the early 1950s. France have won 1 and there has been 1 draw, but let’s not read too much into that simply due to the fact it was well over a generation ago.
France vs Ireland Match Betting Odds:

France vs Ireland Match Betting Tips:
The odds are exactly what we would expect for this match, and France are deserving favourites. However, if Ireland have shown nothing else, it’s that they have fight, and their performances against Italy and Sweden were better than many have expected. France, on the other hand, have been underwhelming, and have left it late on two occasions to get over the line. While Ireland are a big price, and it’s tempting to have a wager on them purely based on that, we’ll take Ireland & Draw for value, seeing as how poor France have been, and the fact that Ireland have shown some real guts during the past fortnight.
France vs Ireland Prop Bets:
This game is going to be tight, and France really haven’t impressed in the way that I had expected with their young, attacking side. When you add in that Ireland have, for the most part, been tight at the back, under 2.5 goals is the play here. Ireland are going to shut up shop and try and catch France on the break, and they’re going to be hard to break down with 10 men behind the ball.
