The first semi final in Euro 2016 takes place on July 6th, 2016 and it features the unlikely Wales team versus Portugal in what should be a hell of a game. If I told you one team are deservedly here due to amazing performances and the other lucked their way into being here – well you’d think Wales were the lucky team but you’d be wrong.
Wales deserve to be here after an incredible campaign thus far where they seem to go from strength to strength. I mean look at the group phase for example – they beat Slovakia in a game where a draw may have been a fairer result. They looked excellent in the first half via England but went ultra defensive and it cost them. However they haven’t looked back since.
They came out and absolutely thumped the Russians, dominated Northern Ireland and then beat Belgium in an incredible game. They didn’t sit back and park the bus like against England either – they did an incredible job at keeping Belgium restrained to outside of the box, and had a vicious counter attack that will scare the hell out of any future opposition.
And then there is Portugal. They stumbled through the group stage into the knockout stages. They defeated Croatia after extra time in one of the worst games we’ve seen all tournament where they didn’t look like they even WANTED to score. Following that they played better against Poland – but again it wasn’t a convincing game and Ronaldo had a very bad game.
It makes for a real interesting tie. Let’s check out the betting odds:

Wales vs Portugal Match Betting Tips:
I hate to say this but I gotta go with Portugal.
Man I want to bet on Wales so much. They have great value at that price and they have shown that they are the better team. However I believe in luck a loy – and I just see Portugals continuing as they stumble into the final.
One of the biggest bets of the tournament I made was on Poland vs Switzerland when it went to penalties. Seeing Switzerland have all those chances and not convert was insane – and I knew luck was on the Polish side and they’d go through. I’m feeling similar here.
On top of things Wales are missing Ramsey and Davies – and Ramsey is an absolutely brutal loss for them. It’s not just what he does in the games but how important he has become. We saw it via Belgium but the players on the opposition side are treating him with respect – the same respect they offer Bale – and that forces teams to defend a bit more and give Wales space.
However I don’t recommend betting within 90 minutes – I’d recommend taking Portugal to Qualify instead.
Wales vs Portugal Prop Bets:
This one I WILL bet for value. The Over 2.5 is currently 2.70 odds and to me that’s dripping in value. I actually think there’s a slight chance it goes under but I’d put the odds for Over 2.5 at around 2.15 at most so I love this added value.
