The NBA playoffs took a really interesting turn last night as Chris Paul suffered a broken hand and Blake Griffin’s injured quad acted up. The storyline of the playoffs was looking like the Clippers would finally have a chance to get out of round two with the Warriors potentially missing Steph Curry for the whole series. Now the question is if they’ll even make it out of the first round. The Clippers with CP3 at the point are better than the Blazers, but with Austin Rivers? Give me Rip City all day.

Last night also saw the Hornets tie the series against the Heat at 2-2. Through the first two games the Heat were the hottest team in the playoffs, but the Hornets have looked like the team we picked to win the series in these last two. Game 5 tomorrow should be very interesting.

Tonight is a huge night for the Eastern Conference playoffs as the Hawks and Celtics and Pacers and Raptors both face off. With both series tied 2-2 these are now best of three series and every game matters. I can’t wait.

MLB Betting Tips:

The Cubs are probably the best team in baseball right now and the Brewers are… not. The Cubs are rightfully -200 favorites in this one, but the total on this one is set a bit low. The Brewers are allowing nearly six runs a game while the Cubs are scoring 6.3 per game. Jimmy Nelson goes for the Brewers and was hit pretty hard by the Cubs last season. I like Cubs/Brewers over 7 runs because I just don’t see the Brewers doing much to stop them from scoring runs in this one.

The Diamondbacks gave up the farm for Shelby Miller and that has not worked out great thus far. Four starts, 8.59 ERA and a 1.97 WHIP has just been disastrous. He’ll probably clean it up before the season’s over, but for right now? Give me the Cardinals -128.

My favorite match-up of the night is the Blue Jays taking on the White Sox. AL Cy Young front runner Chris Sale goes against the powerful Blue Jays offense. Sale is 4-0 with a 1.80 ERA thus far this season and he has looked sharp. The Blue Jays offense, while always scary, is only at 4.3 runs per game thus far and hasn’t quite clicked yet. That is a good recipe for Sale success, but with RA Dickey and his 6.10 ERA on the mound for the Jays, I love the White Sox -119.

NBA Playoffs Betting Tips:

Tonight is all about momentum. Before this series started, I was all about the Hawks. They should’ve won game four despite an awful shooting performance from everyone not named Paul Milsap and been in position to close the series out tonight. Instead, they ended up going to overtime and losing. That game was a heartbreaker and the momentum is on the Celtics side. I just can’t see laying seven points for a team that just lost like that and for a team whose bench was a -50 at the end of regulation. Tonight is about the Celtics +7. I’m not sure that they’ll win, but it won’t be easy for Atlanta.

The same can be said about Indiana +7. This series should not be 2-2, but due to another terrible DeRozan playoff performance, some great playoff Paul George and just a slaughter on the coaching end; here we are. Much like the Celtics/Hawks game I’m not willing to pick an outright winner, but this will be closer than seven points. It’s too important.
