A 1-1 record on Saturday.

I ended up taking the day off yesterday. I got up early to take a look at the Bet MLB System, but nothing really jumped off the page. There were a lot of games in that -110 to -120 range, but nothing where the advantage felt all that lopsided. So I went back to bed and geared up for Wrestlemania.

There were some wild games. The Reds continued their struggles and saw Yasiel Puig try to fight the entire Pirates team. The Cubs lost again to the Brewers as their pitching continues to struggle. We also saw the Mariners put up 12 runs against the White Sox. That offense is just on fire at the start here. Another offense putting up a big number was the Yankees scoring 15, good to see them finally wake up.

A couple of games that I like today on a short Monday schedule. I went back and forth on the Rockies, but ultimately decided against it. The batting splits are all messed up there and it’s a Coors Field game where anything can happen. I do like these two though so let’s get into it.

St. Louis Cardinals vs. Los Angeles Dodgers Betting Tips:

I was really about to go with the under on this game, but the numbers on Miles Mikolas early really scared me off. He’s made two starts this season saw him allow five hits, three of which were homers, and five runs against the Brewers. His next start against the Pirates saw him allow seven hits, one homerun, and three runs. This Dodgers offense has been killing teams and has hit the over in four of their past five games. Going against a shaky pitcher really makes me like them here.

The Dodgers send Hyun-Jin Ryu who had a sparkling 1.97 ERA/3.00 FIP last year. The road has not always been kind to him, but I like him here. The Cards have a batting average of just .227 thus far this season. I know it’s early, but they also have just a 41 wRC+ against lefties on the season. Dodgers looking great here.

Seattle Mariners vs. Kansas City Royals Betting Tips:

Sometimes you just have to ride the hot hand. The Mariners offense has been killing it thus far this season and I really like the match-up with Homer Bailey who had an awful 2018 with a 6.09 ERA/5.55 FIP. Homeruns were a problem as he gave up nearly 2 per 9IP last season. This Mariners offense is dangerous right now and I think Bailey is hittable.

The worrisome part of this bet is Felix Hernandez. He had a 5.55 ERA/5.18 FIP last year, but he looked solid in his first start where he didn’t walk anyone. I have my worries here, but this one is much more about the offense.

The good news is that the Royals offense is not scary. They have .228 batting average, .284 OBP, and .382 slugging percentage on the season thus far. Not exactly murderer’s row. I don’t think Felix will have to do a lot to grab the win here as the Mariners offense should do all the heavy lifting.
